I was just under the impression all along though - along with almost everyone else here too I suppose - that the spire was a done deal! Didn't realize that it was still not official yet.. If this is true, then I really do hope that the spire will be introduced, even at the very last stage of topping out, as I think it's just beautiful. The spire really completes the building IMO.
Hi PG,

i agree with you! I hope they get permission!

Bramble, the spire is shown in all the lastest models and renders. There were even a few front elevations of the tower (so sort of like a construction plan) showing the spire and the total height as well. Maybe since the chicago spire is firmly in the ground and looks like it will stay there as well for a good while, then they might not bother building it.

No spire...

I mean, I have to say that the spire grown on me too...Just, I can't accept such a big spire...It's just kinda too much of cheating...When you take a look at Dubai's diagrams at SSP you'll know what I mean...

But I would like to see spire up there, just a little bit shorter...

Did you see Burj Dubai's spire? It's almost 200 meters tall!

Yeah, I know...But BD's spire is different...It's so elegant...It fit there perfectly...

But on the Pentominium is just 100 m stick (2 actually)...

it's not really 200m, the actual spire or pinnacle is 80m that is visible, if u want to count the whole pinnacle it's 143m. the steel section is 153m.

Same here. I agree also about the way they've designed the spire... it just looks right to me the way it "connects" with the building. Sweet indeed!
