Impossible to say at the moment, we'll have to wait a little longer and see what happens concerning the spire. Hope it is included though... 'cause if it isn't then there will be a big decrease in the overall height. 618m is a little more palatable for me! If not, then whatever, this tower will still be an incredible addition to Dubai's skyline.

Guys, worldarchitecturenews.com is run by one of SSC administrators and they just collect and post news. That render is old and one of the first ever released renders for the tower.

Spire or not spire we don't know at this stage.

Thanks for clearing that up....I'll bet nothing has changed.

I really don't want the spire...I like the original design.

I think our blood pressure is up and down as often as those hammers over this whole spire caper!

I'm for the spire, of course, but even without it, this will still be one hell of a beast anyway!

What they should really do is make it 618 meters without the spire!

Btw. How the get the mud, sand and stones (and later the digger) out of the hole when the ramp is gone?

First they have to level everything, then they may put some foil or something like that to cover bottom of the hole. Next they probably will put a hell of a lot of horizontal rebars, and finally fill everything with concrete.

They dig up the hole, put metal rings in there, then put armature in those rings and then fill everything with the concrete...

Whoa, just look at the size of these particular piles next to the diggers ... they're towering over the others on the right of the pic!

They all look kinda odd....strangely placed....why the big difference here??
