Well because these are test piles, they will be demolished (if aren't allready)

Hopefully no spire! Didn't fit the tower's design, definitely looked like a tacked-on afterthought. Most of all, a 100M stick is a lame way to create fake height. Nice to see groundworks progressing though.

Those are located where the access ramp to the site used to be, so they might have been the first to be cast, before they started digging the pit and casting the rest of the piles.

No they will not be demolished, well not completely: Only the top part will be cut at the same height as the others.

Oh I see, thanks for the explanation, Altin. Fascinating.

Great update Imre!

Cool. Looks like, AltinD is right. The large piles are destroyed partly and now the half of the piles are unveil.

Excellant progress! Even with no spire, this is going to be a beast! I can't wait to see what it will look like with the rest of the tallest block!

Hi all.

Thanx Imre - great to watch this project so early in it's construction. Too bad we were a bit late to see the early BD work ...

What a chore to break the concrete to the level they want on the pile caps with jackhammers. In Imre's second last shot we can see they break them to a very level top. They are getting the ground levelled nicely also.
They are getting closer to putting down the waterproof membrane that will be sealed up to the pile caps - still a ways to go, but getting closer.

Here is a shot from 04 08 (Aug '04) from the Burj to illustrate.

Hi Fury,
It sounds like you really know about construction process.
Thanks for the update.

We weren't late, we simply couldn't get access to or near the site.

If not, then whatever, this tower will still be an incredible addition to Dubai's skyline.

No spire at the moment...but lets wait and see!
