That won't really matter. If Chicago Spire gets build it will have the highest occupied floor, regardless of how tall spire they put on the Pentominium. So, in either case CS will truly be the tallest residential skyscraper. That is IF it ever gets build, unlike the Pentominium.

I keep wondering if antennas would get stuck atop Chicago Spire after its completion just like the Willis Tower. The Pentominium's spire is actually a part of its design so it truly belongs up there.

Great pics. I guess this is the upper layer? The speed is truly crazy here!

Bramble, a question for you: how will this much concrete be cooled during and after pouring such a massive amount in once?

I am a little unfamiliar with this stage of construction. Did they pour concrete into the lower section, or is that all rebar? And when should this begin to rise above the ground?

Concrete is chilled with ice at source to prevent excessive temperatures

So what are the pipes for? The ones in the top left corner of the picture of the hole, there are like 6 of them running diagonally.

They make sure the constructionsite doesn't collapse because of the ground pressure. Rather important!

Thanks Bramble for the info. I guess without the ice it wouldn't be possible to pour 15000m3!

Or they us Cryoment-in time.
If i look right, some thermo sensors will control the temperature.
In addition the rebar bleed off some the thermo tension.
