interestingly, even all the projects here are actually called "jumeirah" xxx (jumeirah islands/lakes towers/park/village/beach residence/beach hotel) this is actually not jumeirah, it is much further north east, even beyond burj al arab, between the sea and the SZR towers.

i guess they just called those projects like that because the name has a somewhat nice sound to it.

come on i love dubai and all but you have to agree its artificial!!

if those are the categories for "artificial" every freakin place in the world a human being re shaped in any way is artificial..

yes i have to agree with dubaiflo. OMG, Italy had a city built on stilts, how artificial! Just because dubai is doing somethign different now, and not like 300 years ago doesnent mean its artificial.

Well if it will be 500 something meters, then it won't be higher then the Chicago Spear, which is 610 meters (right) i tihnk that is what the person meant. i dunno

I find the building quite cool, really nice....but why so much in Dubai? Man, it seem that they have nothing else to do but built! lucky them! Which it was the case in PAris or Montréal....

Yes, but none of them is officially approved so both can claim whatever they want and be both right and/or wrong at the same time.

I think I understand what nezzbaby means.

An indoor ski slope is articficial compared to a ski slope on the side of a mountain. The palm islands are artificial compared to Malta which is a natural island. Buildings are artificial next to natural shelter like a cave.

I disagree, however, if nezzbaby is implying that artificial is bad. Lots of artificial things are an improvment on nature or help when nature isn't very accommodating.

so i could post up my own renders of a 100m apartment building and claim it's the tallest residential building in the world? I wouldn't be wrong since it's not approved yet, right?

You didn't get it what I said at all. Is not about your design being approved or not, rather that of the other contender.

With an 100m building you can't claim anything, becouse there are thousands of other buildinds taller then that, that are either build or under construction.

i dunno how it can't be made more plain! lol
If it is aproved, it will be the tallest, if the Chagaco Spire is aprove, it will be the tallest, but right now, none are arove, so if the Chicago SPire isn't aproved, and the Dubai is, then it will be the tallest res. Voilà!
