The minister of public works, Ana Pastor, will visit the LO-20 extension project at Logroño tomorrow. Perhaps some more details about the schedule will be published. Spanish road projects often lack clearly communicated schedules and deadlines.

This side is not expected to be open in a few days at all.

On the other side, A12 opening till Santo Domingo can be in two weeks or so

An extension of AG-56 will open later this month. It includes a bypass of Noia, with a nice bridge across a ría.

Please check your facts. By the time you posted, the bridge was... already open . It did so today at 15:00 CEST.

It will be a really huge bridge, the third access to Cadiz... but it takes now more than 2 years delay.

Hope to see it soon

This is the Peña Hincada mountain pass. The road (LR-232) was built in the 1950's.

The menhir in the background marked the border between the medieval kingdoms of Pamplona-Navarra to the East (valley of the river Iregua, where the photo has been taken) and Castile to the West (valley of the river Najerilla)

A closer look to the menhir

Looking to the East

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/106744623

Again, looking to the East. In this side of the mountain pass, the road is only ~4 m (~13 ft) wide

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/106744641

Looking to the west. The Sierra de la Demanda can be seen on the background. The road in this side is wider.

Another mountain pass: Peñacerrada, between the Basque Country (North) and La Rioja (South).

Looking to the North (Basque Country), this road is numbered A-3202. This side of the mountain is quite rainy, since the mountains stop the wet clouds coming from the North (Atlantic sea). Add to this the fact that it gets less sunshine. Typical species here are beeches (Fagus sylvatica) and Pyrenean oaks (Quercus pyrenaica).

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/106927072

Looking to the South (La Rioja), the road here is called LR-316. Trees that grow on this side are the Portuguese oak (Quercus faginea), holm oaks (Quercus ilex) and some black pines (Pinus nigra).

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/106927841

The boundary marker. This side says "PROVINCIA DE LOGROÑO".

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/106927081

The other side should read "PROVINCIA DE ÁLAVA".

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/106927076

This path, which leads to the mount Toloño (1,271 m / 4,170 ft), runs exactly through the border (left side - La Rioja, right side - Basque Country)

They are closing down A-22 during this month to do repair works. I wonder how they originally paved it, some parts have been open only 4 years . Luckily it won't affect me, I will pass through that motorway on the last weekend of July. On 25th works will be on the other side and on 28th there won't be any work.

Broken0099, I'm impressed by your photos. I love these "forgotten" roads. They're the funniest to drive, they have the most breathtaking landscapes...

Very interesting pics.

Reason you have limitation is because you are newly registered on this forum. I think after 60 posts and 1 month, or something like that, restrictions are lifted automatically

I'm glad you liked them. I love such roads too, I take a drive on them whenever I have the opportunity.

I've been driving twice in those Riojan roads and are really wonderful. In a couple of km you pass from the Ebro valley to those mountain pass

A 13 kilometer stretch of A-12 will open to traffic this afternoon. From Hormilla to Hervías.

I'm so happy... I've been in that route several times per year since I was a kid.

Now it will be full motorway Logroño-Santo Domingo east.

There is a stretch halted and not started until Burgos yet
