Yeah I was just looking into that.

Fomento has a good flow of press releases, but it's too much of a hassle to check press releases from all regional governments on a daily basis. That's why news.google.es was so convenient.

I notice there was some isolated expressway-grade sectors of A-334 near Albox in Andalucia. What is the larger project there and when will it be completed?

Also, is there a more recent full completion date for coastal A7 in Andalucia?

How many words and regions/languages do you check daily? I just check about 25 German key words plus about 80 authority pages daily - weekly.

I only check sources in languages which I (partially) understand. I have a good enough understanding of Spanish to pick relevant articles out of a list, but that doesn't work with Chinese or Korean or Japanese.

I usually check the English, French, Spanish and German versions of Google News on a daily basis. I use only a few select keywords which I know give the most results from Google, so checking the French, Spanish and German sections only takes a couple of minutes. I check the English Google News more thoroughly.

If you want to be abreast of all developments you need to do this daily, I found out missing even one day gives way too many page results to browse through them all on the English Google News.

I occasionally search Google News in other languages, but only if I know there's some opening or project coming up (for example in Italian or Portuguese).

Checking Google News daily gives a lot of duplicates. The "past 24 hours" option is not very accurate too. I agree, daily is better but press releases are best .

Chris... yeah... it's really, Google news is down from today. Politics issues and nothing (nothing more indeed) to say... pure rubish.

I guess this page will be quite useful for you
http://www.fomento.es/MFOMBPRENSA/listado.aspx?t=n

All Fomento Press releases are there. If you have a RSS reader or so, you can subscribe it. It is quite useful.

That rubbish is thanks to the big newspapers. But this is turning against them .

September 2015 is the date for the opening of the last section, Carchuna-Castell de Ferro. A-44 to El Puntalon opens in April, and Polopos-Albunol is opening on 22 December (This also goes for MichiH ).

Anyway, if you want an oversized motorway, add into the equation a grade requiring a slow lane and two exits close together and voila, you have a 4+3 motorway in a rural area like a short section of A-2 near El Frasno (East of Calatayud).

Dammit, Fomento also changed its website into an annoying scrollfest. Can't they design normal websites anymore? They all use huge photos and very large font sizes. Right now there are only two articles on one screen, meaning you have to scroll down all the time.

The announcement is not very specific:

http://www.fomento.gob.es/MFOM/LANG_...141217-01c.htm

'northern carriageway' up to Racejo.

I am not sure but I think I will drive there next week.
If so, I'll tell about it

So Murica is getting new highways, right? A33 between Jumilla - Yecla - Villena.

Has this project been criticized much or not?

Murcia is becoming rural highway dream land of Spain and probably whole Europe.

The construction cost of A-33 Jumilla - Yecla is € 2.9 million per kilometer, wow. You can't even build a simple two-lane road for that kind of money in the Netherlands.

If it costs so little, then it should be built ASAP '

Is land that cheap over there?

I live in the other corner of Spain but... I'm pretty sure it is!.

Countryland is terribly cheap in Spain. When a project (even for railways) is done, towns and cities are considered because for costing they are terribly expensive providing land costing

First question: you can see some information on A-334 on MichiH's "New motorway projects" thread. I'm too lazy to quote it here

Second one: December the 22nd is the official opening date for Polopos-Albuñol (source). The rest will have to wait until 2015.

I guess it's the whole of A-12/LO-20, including the (in)famous bridge over Ebro river. The meeting point for the inauguration event suggests that it will be held in the bridge itself.

As for the "Northern carriageway" thing, they may open only one carriageway (the Northern one, since this is and East-West road).

It's very low on the priority list. There are other cheap, more necessary projects U/C. This news article (or should I say headline, since the full story is only available to subscribers) says the most advanced stretch (the one between A-31 and A-35, which is the one that carries the most traffic) is again in a standstill. This stretch includes a realignment of A-31.

As for the cost, land is very cheap in Spain. There's a lot of unproductive agricultural land -a result of poor planning dating back to the Middle Ages. Spain is a pioneer when it comes to reforestation, a lot of unproductive land has been turned into forests since the 1940s.
