Thanks for the photos cinxxx, it seems that the new bridge in Cádiz is almost finished

Yes, the whole A-92 between Almería and Granada is well worth a trip! It's got quite a variety of landscapes, from the Tabernas desert to the Hoya (plains) of Guadix and the pine forests of Sierra Nevada.

What sort of traffic volumes use the road at the moment?
More or less the same as the recently-opened A-15: Only about 4,500 vehicles per day, with a truck share of about 30%. However, some East-West traffic (Catalonia-Galicia) could start using it instead of the current route via Logroño-Burgos.

You're right anyway. Regional "Departments Of Transportation" are struggling to keep the local road network in shape, while the national government is spending millions on some useless motorways and high speed lines. I'm sure that fixing the local road network in Soria would be cheaper than building 5 km of the A-11.

Enlace Santiuste - Burgo de Osma (9.47 km): 3.52 M€
Burgo de Osma - San Esteban de Gormaz (11.1 km): 3.46 M€
San Esteban de Gormaz - Langa de Duero (11.4 km): 2.65 M€

I'm not really sure if that's enough to start the construction again.

@ Highways89

Thanks for your reply... I am not surprised that maintaining the roads is going to be a problem, although with only those traffic numbers it will (hopefully) take a lot longer to wear out than a busier motorway!

I really do not know but if I have to make a guess I would bet in Aranda-Valladolid.

Let's remember that beyond Soria, A15 is planned till Tudela

No. The sections under construction are between Aranda and Soria, as that was the only stretch were works had started before the financial crisis.

Perhaps Valladolid - Aranda should have had more priority, but now they prefer to finish what they started before beginning new sections.

^A-92 crosses also some beautiful mountainous regions in Málaga province. The rest to Sevilla is quite boring.

I notice a lack of road numbers on this sign... There are only 16 road numbers posted.

I only count 12: A-1, AP-1, E05, BU-30, A-62 A-73, E80, N-120, A-231*, N-623, N-627 and CL-629. Four of them are repeated, though. However, I miss another E80 .

* Which is wrong IMO, this is the turnoff to the real A-231.

As I said on the "Strange road signs" thread, observe how they put E-05 towards Vitoria but E-5 towards Madrid. Not even on the same sign can they put the same number.

I've always thought that Spanish road sign designers are in fact Garmin/TomTom shareholders.

The weirdest case is the N120 Leon. Why doesn' they point any local town instead of Leon?

Sometimes in the A231 motorway you have an exit and they point Burgos or Leon via N120

Should you do not know the motorway you will quit it and take the road. I know people who got confused

I don't understand that obsession about showing all the road numbers when they are not adding interesting additional information.

Probably, something like this would be more useful...

Sometimes it is useful. When I approach Burgos and it is my wife who drives I ask her to find signals for Leon or A231.

Sometimes there are too many, sometimes there is a lack of them (for instance pointing Valladolid/Madrid and you may know that for a while Valladolid and Leon are in the same way)

Some of them are useful...but not all of them

They are useful when the amount of information is not excessive. In any other case, it is counter-productive.

I don't know which is the case you refer at the end of your explanation.

Burgos bypass joins old and new signals.

Sometimes you find a great deal of information. In other cases they seem to be a 20 yrs old signal and points only several cities (because there were the only possibilities then).

In this case I prefer a double information: number of motorway and destination.

But it is clear that they should have to think in no so much info in the same signal

For instance, in the new third beltway of Valladolid (VA-30), they use as shortened version for signal just destinations instead of number+destination or just numbers. I find it pretty efficient.

Is there any comprehensive list of the toll road concessionaires with financial trouble and/or that are going through restructuring procedures?

I just filmed a video of the new junction A-12 x LO-20 in Logroño, including a bridge over the Ebro.

Today (Easter Monday) is a holiday in this part of Spain, so there wasn't much traffic.
