Be aware you can find more traffic due to a bank holiday

A-7 Albaida - Alcoi - Ibi

I made a new video, of A-7 in inland Alicante province. It runs from Puerto de Albaida past Alcoi to Ibi.

I like the artwork in that road. Between the two tunnels in Alcoy you can see the famous Moros (facing South) and Cristianos (facing North) Alcoy is famous for:

And in Ibi there are references to the toy industry that led the economy of the town in the last half of the 20th century:

It's a shame that this is not a widespread thing in Spain.

There's also a giant locomotive near the A-7 / CV-80 interchange.

FV-1 road (in Fuerteventura island)

https://www.google.es/maps/@28.69775.../data=!3m1!1e3

It is a so sandy area that it is limited to 70 because sand can be in a couple of seconds over all road and brakes will not run (even if asphalt is perfect and they are not many curves)

and a little view of FV-3 (capital Puerto del Rosario by-pass)

There is some kind of wildlife crossing + netting across A-7 near Alcoi.

It's a crossing for bats. A-7 is about 40 meters away from a cave that hosts a huge colony of bats, so there's these tunnels and nylon netting all over the road for them not to interfere with traffic.

Are there any (current) plans to complete the A48 from Vejer to Algeciras?

There used to be plans for that. I've driven that road, the southern end of A-7 at Algeciras is a bottleneck, that was the only traffic slowdown I encountered in all of Spain. Algeciras - Tarifa carries quite some traffic, Tarifa - Vejer de la Frontera seems less busy. But converting Algeciras - Tarifa to autovía will be expensive.

I hope it will never be done. Algeciras - Tarifa is a really beautiful trip nowadays (Tarifa - Algeciras too, but not as much because you don't see Africa), and all the unspoilt beaches between these two towns or the countryside shouldn't be changed

And there already is A-381 for long-distance traffic, so there's really no point for another motorway there.

But in the current climate of crazy announcements and tenders everywhere (election year), who knows...

Furthermore it is a controversial project due to the ecological and natural value of the area. Any excuse for a more intense touristic use of that section of the Spanish coast which has been relatively well preserved would be pretty criticized. Long distance traffic issues are well solved as verreme says thanks to the A-381. That's true that the Algeciras by-pass is not really well solved, but a general refurbishment of the Southern tip of the A-7 and access to Algeciras would be enough for improving the traffic in the area without affecting the N-340 between Vejer and Algeciras.

Well something should really be done at least with the Algeciras stretch. It's total crap.

Do you mean on the N-340 between Vejer de la Frontera and Algeciras?

I think he's referring to the stretch that goes through the city of Algeciras itself. You know, the one with traffic lights and at-grade intersections. In fact, there were plans for a bypass from San Roque to Algeciras, which is one of the oldest stretches of the A-7, but they seem to have been cancelled. Instead, there are some other works planned in next year's budget:

€1.0 M (total: € 33 M) Acondicionamiento de la conexión de la N-340 con el acceso norte al Puerto de Algeciras. Tramo: Menacha-Algeciras (2.3 km)

€5.3 M (total: €38 M) Duplicación de la N-350. Acceso sur al Puerto Bahía de Algeciras (2.8 km)
