I thought M-50 was run by the state despite being included in the "radiales" deal. There are no shadow tolls there, unlike in M-45. I don't think any motorways will be closed anyway, the state will just take them over.

Enjoy it while it last, the new urban planning car centric model used in Zaragoza where life without a car is impossible, will ensure horrible traffic congestion in the future. Arcosur is built like a zombie city.

Unfortunately property developers that build the new neighborhoods like Arcosur don't give a crap about urban sustainability, they just build for profit, and since city hall is full of politicians bought but private sector you can bet sustainable urban development is the last thing on their agenda.

Take a look to last picture. It is a triple cross (Leon and vigo are in opposite directions)

It is only on Fomento roads. In regional roads signs are pretty nice in that way

Yep, most tourist signs in Spain are crap. They use the same three pictograms for everything:

I remember seeing some of this kind along the A-231, a regional motorway in Castilla y León. Much better IMO:

A-66 Benavente - León

Some photos of A-66 from Benavente to León. This stretch of autovía opened to traffic in 2003, and was one of the earliest stretches of A-66 all the way from León to Sevilla. It has a somewhat unusual design by Meseta-standards, the exit density is much lower than most other autovías (over 10 km apart on average).

A-7 / AP-7 Málaga - Marbella

I made a video of A-7 / AP-7 from Málaga to Marbella.

The toll rates during peak season (June - September) are a ripoff. The tolls are € 7.45 for 27 kilometers. That's € 0.28 per kilometer, while a typical toll road charges around € 0.10 per kilometer, which is already a high burden on longer trips.

Probably it was designed as a toll-free autopista.

The A-31 between Honrubia and La Roda (opened in 1992) was also designed as a toll-free autopista and originally had 5 exits in 49 km. It even had motorway signs until they were replaced somewhere between 2014 and 2015:

"Autopista" sign in 2014 -> https://www.google.es/maps/@39.41152...8i6656!6m1!1e1
"Autovía" sign in 2015 -> https://www.google.es/maps/@39.41161...8i6656!6m1!1e1

Another example would be the A-49 Sevilla-Huelva (the remaining stretch to the Portuguese border has a higher exit density because of the number of tourist resorts).

A little update:

Works were stopped some months ago and there's no activity at the construction sites. I drive nearby very often and I haven't seen any movement for ages, sadly. There's no announced opening date, but it's pretty clear it's not going to meet the June 2016 deadline.

Opening scheduled for this summer, there shouldn't be any delays, according to this press article:

Works are apparently completed, but the section hasn't opened due to a legal dispute between different administrations regarding tolls of neighboring AG-55, a dispute which so far has prevented AC-15 from opening. So at the moment there's no scheduled opening date.

Works are delayed, as two additional unexpected expropriations had to be carried out in order to complete the works. It seems an agreement has been reached with one of the land owners, but not yet with the other one. Once this issue is solved, opening will take place in two months. Moreover, there were some electric lines which had to be dismantled, although this last problem seems to have been solved out.

Opening of this section is not scheduled for now. Works were stopped some years ago and have not resumed. Only the first phase (the following project) is under construction.

Works are very advanced and the opening has been scheduled for this summer (instead of October). Moreover, the new motorway will be called AG-14, so although it will be an extension of current AG-55, it won't have the same name. I guess they use two different names to distinguish between the older tolled section (AG-55) and the new toll-free section (AG-14). This name change also applies to the previous project (Berdoias - Baio), which will be part of AG-14.

This project will be completed in late 2018, as works actually started in July 2015 (not in December 2014, when only a symbolic event was held) and they're supposed to last 40 months (according to some press articles).

Unfortunately, it seems works are suspended until a new technical modification is included in the project.

No news. Most recent Google Earth aerial images (dated July 2015) show the works exactly in the same state they were in 2010. So if it hasn't been announced that works have been resumed, I suspect they continue suspended.

I saw some workers yesterday on the last section, so at least they are working on it. But I don't expect it for this year.

Drove by last month. They're doing major earthworks. There's also a short section of N-II being duplicated North of Girona; they're actually adding a second carriageway to the connector with AP-7 that opened in 2014. There's not much to be done as the only major junction was already built with space reservation for the second roadway and works are well underway, so it could open in 2017.

Also in A-2, but further South, there's the junction with AP-7 in Castellbisbal where I see people working every now and then but progress is really slow. Major works are done but there's still a lot to do.

Thanks for the info!!

In my personel opinion i think it is a little bit stupid to change the road number of the AG-55 only for the reason that it is toll-free!!

Some pictures of the works of the junction between the AP-68 and LO-20/N-232/A-12 near Recajo, La Rioja.

This interchange will save traffic from Pamplona to Zaragoza (and vice-versa) a 21-km detour.

Once finished, the interchange will look approximately like this (the aerial image is from June 2015):

Eastbound:

Westbound. The right lane is closed and the speed is limited to 80 km/h. There is a temporary speed camera.

Same spot in September 2015:

I think Pamplona to Zaragoza traffic would rather use AP-15 (Or N-121 if they don't want to get trolled). Going via Logroño is quite a detour.
