i read an article about free-flow Via-T lanes about to be introduced in february at Barcelona La Roca barrier. this is abviously the next step to complete removing the booths in Spain. are there any more plans for such lanes?

First news about it. AP-7 had promised to remove booths or make it easier.

There is another way to avoid "half" boths. If you take AP-6 or ways to Segovia or Avila... departing from Madrid you will pay full price at the end.

Providing you have entered after first exit you will have a credit in your card and later full fare from Madrid.
Providing you are going to Madrid, you will pay full fare at begining (and should you exit before Madrid, you will have a refund)

If Madrid-anywhere, only one booth

GC-2

Thanks to an official visit by the Minister of Public Works to the Canary Islands, I've just found out the existence of another impressive road project, this time in the island of Gran Canaria:

GC-2, which currently ends in Agaete (where the ferry to Tenerife departs), is currently being extended in two phases to La Aldea de San Nicolás on the Western coast of the island.

The first one (La Aldea de San Nicolás - El Risco, 10 km) is in an advanced degree of execution and will be opened soon (works started in 2009 but were suspended for a long time due to financial difficulties; it should have opened in December 2016 according to some press articles from last spring, but it seems there are again delays).

It's not a motorway project, but mostly a 2+1 expressway. However, the most remarkable structure is a 3.1 km twin tunnel (2x2), which will be the longest one in the Canary Islands. Therefore a 3.4 km section including the tunnel can be considered a proper motorway (something akin to the last section of TF-1 in Tenerife, near Santiago del Teide).

On the other hand, works on the second phase (El Risco - Agaete, 7.75 km) haven't started yet.

Some pictures from the works, which feature the motorway section near the tunnel portals:

this with AP6 sounds very interesting, it would work perfect here in HR at A1.

how is refund in direction Madrid given?

I do not know because in last decade I have used only a return journey... and both direction Madrid (I took different exists in first and second trip)

AP-6 starts here
https://www.google.es/maps/@40.64258.../data=!3m1!1e3

but if you quit here
https://www.google.es/maps/@40.65688.../data=!3m1!1e3

or here, it will be free
https://www.google.es/maps/@40.69222.../data=!3m1!1e3

It is just an overpass about those towns (if you go to Madrid, free, if you go to northeast, same price, never mind exit taken.

By the way, one out of those tunnels was first tolled road (1x1) in Spain in late 1960s

Nowadays there are three tunnels. Usually one of them is out of service but they can open it in peak hours direction northeast or Madrid if required.

Something seems to have changed there because I have found booths here direction Madrid but not direction northeast
https://www.google.es/maps/@40.72556.../data=!3m1!1e3

and conversely, no booths directions Madrid in the opposite corner

https://www.google.es/maps/@40.88561.../data=!3m1!1e3

An exit I know is this one

https://www.google.es/maps/place/506...6!4d-1.1173154

If you come from Zaragoza you have to stop for ticket for if you are to take first exit, no ticket, just quit 500m before and pay fixed fare.

Conversely, here...

Zaragoza-Pina requires stops for a while. First for ticket, second to pay in one km
https://www.google.es/maps/place/506...6!4d-1.1173154

I have done that journey once in my life. It is an exit thought for people coming from Barcelona and they avoid main booth..... but nowadays trucks have toll free if they use electronic system and a lot of them avoid it just not to stop twice.

are you sure that there is refund given? this looks just as normal open tolling system with one-direction booths, barrier placed in one direction, and the other direction pays at exits fixed tariff.
the same system you can find in in Italy A3 Napoli - Salerno, UK M6 Birmingham - Wolverhampton, probably there are some in France, but those are the longest two stretches with such system that I know.

Wow. That will be a huge improvement; the current road is dreadful. It will save a good 30 minutes of driving.

The North and West coast of Gran Canaria is not as developed as the other side of the island, due to the harsher weather and the absence of beaches. It's a beautiful region, but the roads there are very poor and distances long. However it's a completely different experience from the resort towns of Maspalomas or Arguineguín.

FV-1

Again news from the island of Fuerteventura (with each new opening I'm becoming more and more interested in visiting the Canary Islands ):

After the opening of the 1st carriageways of these two sections in the last weeks, now it seems that the 2nd carriageway will be also opened in 2 different phases:

Lajares - Caldereta in March 2017.
Corralejo - Lajares in early 2018.

And finally some aerial pictures of the newly opened section, taken a few weeks before its opening:

By the way, I couldn't find any information on the opening of the remaining sections of FV-2 in the south of the island, which were expected to open this year. It seems there have been some delays.

There's a a section under construction between Costa Calma and La Barca. It should have opened this month.

In the future there will be a motorway all the way from Corralejo in the north to Morro Jable in the south. That's around 120 km of continuous motorway following FV-1, FV-2 and FV-3.

It's quite surprising that they decided to start the construction of this project from both ends of the island instead of choosing the central part next to the airport and Puerto del Rosario.

In any event, the next section of motorway to be built will be Caldereta - Airport, once the current stretches under construction in the north and in the south of the island are ready.

Tenerife

A new 5.6 section of 2+1 expressway (TF-46) also opened to traffic yesterday in Tenerife, Canary Islands. It connects TF-1 motorway near Vera de Erques with the beach resorts of Alcalá and Playa San Juan, on the Western coast of the island.

So do I, and AFAIK, central island streches are not designed. It is possible to go through central island (Antigua, Tuineje) instead of coastal area, making corner to corner ahead from Puerto del Rosario and leaving that area for local traffic.

A-92, Sierra Nevada

I made a video of A-92 through the Sierra Nevada (Diezma - Granada). I found it one of the nicest autovías I've driven in Spain.

By the way... 2016 is gone and it has been first year since 1994 without non-urban motorway openings. Only a strecth around La Coruña, another one near Las Palmas and last but not least, around Burgos were opened.

But no openings in country motorways

What about the N-636 Elorrio-Gerediaga?
