I was surprised Fomento actually recognized N-240 is no longer signed as such in Navarre, although they got the color wrong (it's a "yellow" road, not "orange"). Anyway, as you have seen, there is a gap in the motorway between both exits.

As I've said, I drove that A-21 section the same day as Chris. And once I reached A-2 at Monreal de Ariza, which is in the same province (Zaragoza) but over 270 km away by road. That is a pretty big (and weird shaped) province.

Opening of this section is now expected for May 2017. Even though it's almost complete, works are allegedly delayed due to fog and very high humidity, which have prevented the last layer of asphalt to be laid.

I didn`t think that fog could delay road construction

Well, they say temperature is so low and humidity so high that they can't lay the final asphalt layer. I guess fog is a consequence of the above, but they probably just mix different things to make up excuses.

due to a former damn project

Damn will not be done and the were waiting for a road project. Should damn exists woeld ne more expensive.

They are 10 km only and will require several tunnels near Janovas. A devastated village that is being refurbished step by step

Easy to find Janovas: N-260, Greenwich paralel

This part hasn't been upgraded yet due to a now cancelled dam project. It would require a third tunnel (there are already two up to where the road narrows), but then it shouldn't be difficult to widen the existing goat path. At least they repaved it some years ago. The tunnel would bypass a curvy area, and at the end (or start) of the curves the Greenwich Meridian (or "Berbegal Meridian" as I call it, as I take as reference a rural road crossing just outside Berbegal which happens to lie directly on the IERS Reference Meridian) is crossed.

For those who do not know, last December the new section of the BU-30 (Burgos ring road) was inaugurated.

With that stretch the ring is completed and therefore you can encircle Burgos by dual carriageway.

The route has 37.5 km and becomes the largest by-pass of the community (Va-30 Valladolid 21.6km) and I think the largest in Spain when to radio bypass third is concerned (M-30 Madrid 32 Km, SE-30 Seville 22km ...)

Here is a video of the new section quoted.

A-66

I filmed a stretch of A-66 from El Ronquillo to Monasterio, across Sevilla, Huelva and Badajoz provinces. It runs through the Sierra Morena. It's a nice ride, with light traffic.

Cool, but the name of the closest town at the end of your video is Monesterio, instead of Monasterio. It's a common mistake even between spanish speakers who don't know that town, because monasterio means monastery.

A-15

A 34.2 km section of future A-15 motorway between Fuensaúco (east of Soria) and Ágreda west has been put to public information for the purposes of environmental assessment (I don't really know what that exactly means ). It will have an estimated cost of 208M€ (6M€/km).

Map of the section:

Source: http://www.fomento.gob.es/MFOMBPrens...7-23d1913d12a8

Besides, another 35 km section of A-15 between Ágreda east and Tudela (AP-68 / AP-15 interchange) was also put to public information for the purposes of environmental assessment last December. That section will have a cost of 150M€ (4.2M€/km).

Map of the section:

Source: http://www.fomento.gob.es/MFOMBPrens...c-e096f886a1d5

Ágreda bypass opened in 2007 as part of A-15, but it has remained an isolated 9 km section of motorway ever since.

And finally, the project for the 16 km section between Los Rábanos and Fuensaúco (southern bypass of Soria) has been ready and waiting to be tendered for a long time. Hopefully the current Minister will push for it (as he's doing with the remaining sections of A-15).

Kmposts on A-15 are really weird. The Agreda bypass uses N-122 kmposts which starts in Zaragoza, while the Medinaceli-Los Rabanos section uses its own starting at Medinaceli (N-111 counted from Madrid instead) and the Pamplona Western bypass and Irurtzun-Donostia/San Sebastian section both use AP-15's. Interestingly enough, no kmpost duplication happens, the ranges being as follows:
0-63: Medinaceli-Los Rabanos (falls within AP-15 Tudela-Noain)
83-97: Noain-Berriozar (Pamplona Western bypass)
100-106: Agreda bypass (Signed the wrong-way, falls within AP-15 Berriozar-Irurtzun)
113-168: Irurtzun-Donostia/San Sebastian (the final section is signed GI-41 instead)

Thus, with the data we have, once completed and if Navarre and Guipuscoa change the kmposts in their sections (including AP-15), the final exit (at AP-8) would be numbered 322 (it's currently 167).

And this is how the future A-15 / A-11 / S-20 in Los Rábanos (south of Soria) will look like:

To understand it better:

Left: A-15 Madrid
Top: A-11 Valladolid
Top Right: LO-20 Soria
Bottom Right: A-15 Pamplona

Not bad at all for a sparsely populated area.

It means when you plan a big road you consult with the public on environmental implications before you finally commit to building it and start your final detailed design.

Standard EU practice.
