I was there last summer on friday evening with heavy traffic due to it is faster way Madrid-Santander and there are barely 50 km 1x1. Rest is toll-free 2x2 at least. Therefore, people think being slowly there and 120 in the rest.

Having 12 km more... only 38 will remain.

The project for the new A-67 north-east of Torrelavega, Cantabria was published yesterday.

Currently, the A-67 and the A-8 share the same motorway for about 2.5 km: https://www.google.es/maps/dir/43.36.../data=!3m1!1e3

A new 2.5-km stretch of motorway and two new junctions will be built. The total cost has been estimated at around EUR 100 M.

It was announced yesterday that the works will be resumed before the end of next summer for completion in 19 months. So it won't be ready at least before 2019.

The works were suspended in summer 2015, allegedly due to the need to redo some technical parts of the project, and were supposed to be resumed last month. However, now the problem is that the constructor has gone bankrupt, so they have to think about what to do.

For the international readers, the constructor is Isolux-Corsán, the same Spanish construction company which was in charge of building a long section of A3 in Romania, whose contract has been recently terminated for the same reasons.

A-23

Río Guarga viaduct under construction in A-23. Works were restarted last year after being suspended for more than 4 years.

They were posted last week in another forum, but I don't know when they were taken.

It seems they're now working in widening the viaduct deck to make room for both A-23 carriageways, but the pillars and the narrow deck were completed more than 5 years ago, as these Google Street View picture shows:

I do not remember anything about metal structure. And I guess they haven't built it in less than a month. Therefore, pictures are from winter or so.

They are working in that area, after Monrepos mountain pass. I remember strong machines being saturday.... and nothing later.

We've got several contracts signed in the last few days. One is the Melide-Palas de Rei section of A-54 in Galicia. The other is this one (screen capture from alserrod):

A new autovía to be added to the list:

N-124: Armiñón (A-1) – Zambrana 3km (April 2017 to Summer 2019) – ? – map

It basically consists in a dualling of the current N-124. I think it will keep its current name, but there's a remote possibility that it'll be renamed to A-68.

Some pictures of the works can be found here and here.

BTW MichiH, if I've read correctly you visited Spain last week? Hope you had a great time

Yep, clockwise around the whole island

It was a long-time dream of mine. Andorra, A7/AP7 (with a lot of rain), A66, Portugal, AP9, A8, La Rioja, Jaca and back to France.

But I haven't passed Huesca this time to not-visit CNGL

I did a similar 'Vuelta a España' in 2015, it was one of the best trips I've ever done.

Spain offers such great driving. Amazing roads and scenery, little traffic, few tolls, etc.

Yep, but I've visited Portugal too I've skipped the Sierra Nevada due to bad weather. Sure, I'll go there again. And I wanna see more of the north! Maybe in 2019...

Do not forget to spot Somport tunnel and tell us about A-21 works, please.

Should you want a sightseen road or so in the nearbies, just ask for them

Another section of autovía can also be added to the list:

A-352: south of Vera - Garrucha (4.3 km). Works started in 2009, were suspended in 2012 and resumed in January 2017. Opening is expected in November 2018. Currently it has a 22% degree of execution.

On the other hand, without leaving the province of Almería, construction of the missing 5 km of A-334 (Autovía del Almanzora) between El Cucador and A-7 is supposed to start before the end of the year.

I drove there last weekend and I'm already back in Germany. I drove Pampluna - Jaca - Somport tunnel. I couldn't spot any construction works because it was weekend. I wasn't aware that A21 is so close to N240 but I saw some buildings and signs indicating construction works. Not much though. I don't think that Santa Cilia – Jaca-West will be opened in 2017 and don't know anything about progress in the past months.

A-21 is on the opposite side of the river from N-240 west of Jaca, so you can't see much of it unless you take a side road that crosses the A-21 alignment. Last September some overpasses were already built but overgrown with weeds.

The section between Santa Cilia and Jaca is advancing at a good pace. They're now completing all the bridges and overpasses, but it is very unlikely that it opens in 2017. On the other hand, works are slowly restarting between Santa Cilia and Puente la Reina.

The forum from where I took the A-23 pictures is undoubtedly the best Internet site to follow the works of both A-21 and A-23, they have a different thread for each motorway and new pictures are usually posted at least once a month. It's quite odd for a winter sports forum to follow motorway construction so thoroughly, but it results from the fact that A-21 and A-23 are the main accesses to the ski resorts in the Aragón Pyrenees. It's in Spanish, but with the help of Google Translate and the pictures I guess you can guess most of the posted information.

GC-200, Gran Canaria

I can't believe we missed the opening on April the 8th of the 3,162 m long twin tube La Aldea tunnel in GC-2, Gran Canaria. It's the longest tunnel in the Canary Islands, and part of a new 10 km road linking El Risco with La Aldea, on the northwestern coast of the island.

Even though it's not part of a motorway or a dual carriageway, the tunnel has been built with two separate tubes, with two lanes each. Before and after the tunnel, both carriageways melt into a conventional road.

Therefore I suggest to include it on the list of new motorways in Spain, given that the tunnel section of the road actually fulfills all the requirements for being considered a motorway section.

What seems quite surprising is that the tunnel, still unpaved, actually opened in January for special convoys (one in the morning and another one in the evening each way), with only 80 cars each time, which had to register beforehand. It was a temporary solution after the old winding road had to be closed due to landslides.

Some pictures:

And video of the whole section:

3162 vs 3176. Is not strange, considering that there are maybe more curves to one side than to the other.
