Great. I think Madrid has one of the best motorway networks of any city in Europe.

Awesome project. Hats off to Senor Gallardón for making this possible. Congratulations.

[E] Spanish Autopistas and Autovías

Spain has currently the longest motorway-network of Europe, followed by Germany and France. In the last 15 years, a huge amount of mostly toll free Autovias were build. Around Madrid is an impressive ringroadnetwork build, that exists of 4 ringroads (M30, M40, M45, M50), and there are plans for another ringroad.

Each corner of the country is reachable via motorways. Unless most people and mapmakers think, there is absolutely no difference between Autopistas and Autovias, except Autopistas are tolled. Some older Autovias have still some old design standards though, but they will be reconstructed to modern standards.

Are there any picture sites of Spanish Autopistas and Autovias? Finding them on the internet is hard.

No, white ones means "Carretera Nacional" and blue ones means autovia. Colours are mixed in order to indicate what kind of road is

There are about 27 pieces of information on that assembly, which is a bit more than should be presented on a high-speed roadway.

FM, what does the first pic that you posted have to do with the Spanish one? It only depicts the route number shields and no other information. If you want to compare apples with apples, then this picture would serve as a better example:

I know that you don't like when city names are posted on motorway signs, but the common sense dictates otherwise. At least in California, they always post a city/village name with the route number. I have a couple of examples but I don't want to flood this topic.

Having said that, I too believe that particular Spanish sign is unnecessary over-complicated.

Yeah, I wasn't able to find a good example and I see nothing wrong with posting a city on a sign. Ironically I thought the Spanish highway signs were easy to read until I saw the last one.

If I read correctly, I see the first exit for Logrono which is European Highway 804 and Autopista 68. When it comes to the highways under it I'd like to know what those mean. On the second sign it looks like they're telling you all the information on that lane. If some could explain the second sign to me I'd be very grateful. [B]frozen/[B] posted that the white explains the type of roadway it is so I can kinda see where that's going.

White background typically indicates city streets and other points of interest within city limits. That is how it's done in Russia and it always worked for me in Europe as well.
