That small photo of the railway station in the top right hand corner is a picture of Berlin's Central Station!!

I hope they don't try to copy it. At least they should acknowledge it in the pic!!

Deutsche Bahn owns 49% of Qatar Rail company, most of the early renders for the stations seems like German stations, and I think they will end up similar to them. look at the one in this website and you will know what I mean http://www.qr.com.qa/
-------

they have announced that the new airport should be operational in April. 12 airlines will operate in April, Qatar Airways will move to the new airport between June and September "second half of this year"

France Football is doing a big story on the World Cup draw was based on serious corruption and fraud.
They're calling for Qatar not to get the World Cup.

Let's see how this all plans out.

There's a thread for the world cup in the Qatar section, Posting there would be better.

Thank you.
Excellent commercial but for a stopover in Doha do I need to buy 2 separate flights?
On my criterias the most I would get to stop in Qatar is 21 hours and
I tried Multicity booking and the prices are well more than double.
Is there a way to book a flight with 2 days in Doha with a reasonable price?

I'm somewhat surprised to see that even in its final stage the airport won't have more than 2 runways.

Why are you surprised?
Building a whole new airport costs money. Building it on the sea costs even more.

Look at Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok Airport.
It has "only" 2 runways and handles well over 50M passengers a year (and 330.000 aircraft movements).
This New Doha International Airport, at final completion (2015), should be able to manage about the same numbers as HKG.

Ps: and if they are so "unlucky" to need a third runway, I guess they have enough space on that sea to add it.

i dont think they need more than 2, and if they need they can use he current runway and connected with the new airport, as i think they will keep the current airport for other use like military and QA training

I agree with love-qatar. The 2 runways will be enough for the coming years.

One the one hand there are no curfew restrictions in most Arab countries. As far as I know Doha's airport is opened 24/7 with no curfew restrictions.

On the other hand many if Arab carriers use Widebodies for the most of the theit flights. For Qatar Airways this fact isn't true as they're operating the A320 on routes to Europe as well.
But as you can see in LHR a dual runway system can handle up to 60 or 70 million PAX if being used in an efficient way. And as far as I know LHR has strict curfew restrictions.

So as long as you've got enough space to park the planes, as long as you're not suffering any curfew restrictions and as long as you're using mainly Wide-Bodies a dual runway system like in NDIA can handle up to 70 or even 80 million PAX.

That's way it will be sufficient for the upcoming 10 to 20 or even 30 years. And never forget that you've got plenty of space in the sea nearby.
