.

Delay of 4-6 months is expected!

I think this is worse than Berlin. They cancelled the airport's opening 2 hours before the first flight.

This is bad. They really did not learn anything from the Villagio incident.. I hope for Qatar's sake, they rectify and quickly launch the awesome airport.

How on earth did they let it get so close to opening before finding a problem?

Al Baker says postponed airport opening in Doha due to contractor

The soft opening of Doha’s new Hamad International Airport, which had been scheduled for April 1, has been delayed because building occupancy permits have not obtained from the Qatari Civil Defense Department, according to Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker.

Describing the delay as “a slight glitch,” Al Baker said in a Chicago press conference Thursday, that the Bechtel Corporation, the principal contractor on the new airport, was to blame for the postponement...

Yes, yes, it's always the contractor, and not his own arrogance that personally doesn't allow the contractors to do their job as per the schedule and conditions they agreed upon

I also find it weird that he is not taking legal action against other contractors that have not worked according to schedule. Otherwise the airport should have opened in 2009 (or around that time).

Yes it was. Obviously this year was not good for Qatar Airways and he has a right to be pissed.

I'm just hoping the new airport opens by July, in time for my travel..
