Face he is calling for you.

As we said before, i think that they just removed the barrier, and continued to work offshore so that nobody complains and the papers remain quiet.

They might redesign the on shore part of the project, but i am sure it will go ahead.

LOL....

Thanks!

I completely agree. The project is going ahead as planned, without the beach fence. Thats all. What do people think, tourists are going to halt development?

he he.

ur telling me! here read this...

Dredging continues at Porto Dubai despite public outcry
CONSTRUCTION UAE
11 May 2007

Dredging is continuing around the clock on the Porto Dubai development off Umm Suqeim beach, despite a recent order that was expected to bring the entire project to a halt.

Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum ordered an end to work on Umm Suqeim beach in March, after a public outcry over fencing that blocked entry to what is one of the few remaining public beaches in the emirate.

Many believed the project, being undertaken by Zabeel Investments, had been shelved after the fencing was removed in the wake of the UAE President and Prime Minister’s order. Two months on, work is continuing and the first of several reclaimed islands has emerged from the sea.

Site offices for the project remain on the beach and mariners have been warned to stay away from the area.

The 450,000-square-metre mixed-use development is expected to be made up of residential, commercial and hospitality buildings, and also includes an artificial mountain, according to sources.

Netherlands-based Royal Boskalis Westminster is working on reclamation, which involve the dredging of about 3 million cubic metres of material. Local real estate developer Nakheel is handling the dredging works. Zabeel was unavailable for comment (MEED 16:3:07).

ha ha ha

I knew it would never be cancelled. Stupid tourists.

They can keep the beach, but this project will rise!

Mods, please move this back to the Project Development thread. It is NOT on hold

Looks amazing.... I guess its a hybrid of Rio-De-Jumeirah, Porto Dubai and Dubai Mountain City.

Nice!

I still think its a fascinating project. Dubai's coastline is going to look superb when this is done.

Julito, do you know when this is scheduled for completion?
