I recently noticed signage indicating plans for the redevelopment of 800 North Henry Street, near Braddock Road Station. The developer, TC MidAtlantic Development III, Inc., is proposing a mixed use residential and retail project that will consist of approximately 274 residential units, approximately 603 parking spaces located in two levels of below grade parking, and approximately 54,700 square feet of ground level retail and personal service uses.

Just that there's a ton of construction there.

The Madison might be delayed, I'm not sure. The Harris Teeter pulled out. I live in that neighborhood, so I follow the development pretty closely.

By the way, this website should cover 75% of the projects in the city... Click on "Development" for the majority of info.

I went ahead and pinned this, and changed it to include all of Northern Virginia, because I think there's enough going on in NoVA to warrant its own thread.

Will there be a "MoCo/PG development thread?"

Possibly, we'll have to see which areas warrant "Development News" threads and which areas aren't really ready for their own threads just yet. Silver Spring already has a thread, which is a start for Montgomery County.

Back on topic, can someone list projects going on in Northern Virginia?

As with the DC and Maryland side, there really are just too many to list. With DC, we basically just talk about overall growth because keeping up with all the individual urban developments in the city is far too big a task, even for the most enthusiastic of forumers.

Yeah, we probably can't make a list. We will probably talk about larger projects with mentions of the smaller projects here and there.

So, is this a case of we have too much going on, so we don't talk about hardly any of it? Some other city forums have a pretty decent contribution rate. What is up here?

Baltimore keeps this forum alive, from what I can tell.

DC alone has $51 billion worth of development in the pipeline. And, Northern VA has a formidable development pipeline in its own right. So, where are the enthusiasts?

DC seems to be picking up as of late. And would you kindly relocate this thread to the "Dixie" section of this site jk. There's probably a thread like this in the southern section. merge ?

Hampton Roads is the closest area w/ a development thread in the southeast section, I don't know if you were thinking of merging the two.

Yes.

The biggest problem is we don't have standout projects like the Signature Tower in Nashville. I guess we do have things like the Southwest Waterfront to talk about. Humorously enough, DC's megaprojects (Southwest Waterfront, Anacostia Redevelopment, National Harbor, etc) cost literally 10x other city's supertalls and get talked about 10x less.

Oh, I get it! So, it's more about the ooohh and aaahh of a singular tall or supertall that would get more attention no matter what because it stands out on the skyline.

We're faced with the constant reminder that we have no skyscrapers in the city limits of DC to be ooohhing and aaahhing about. And, since the name of the whole website is "skyscraper city", then I guess we're just at a loss.

But, I would at least expect more discussion on the architecture of individual projects in DC and the DC area, although they might not be a skyscraper. There is enough here to justify more a discussion on some of these. There has been some great architectural leaps here just in the last 3 years that are worthy of discussion.

It was telling to see that the proposed building on K Street, designed by Richard Rogers, didn't generate more comments a little while back when I posted that thread.

Exactly. That also explains the low opinions of Washington by most members of the greater forum. Based upon the perceptions of the people on this forum, Dubai is the most important city in the world even though Washington is the capital of the world's only superpower and has a $460 billion economy while Dubai's is $46 billion...literally one tenth of Washington's.

LOL! Northern Virginia, with the most projects in DC Area, does not even have a sticky thread. I guess there is nothing we can do about it. Can't believe Silver Spring has its own sticky thread. We need to close this thread. The author is not even active on this and look at the images he posted. Its all negativity. Not to mention that Loudoun County is one of the fastest growing counties in United States.
