I think you're doing a great job learning English. It's a difficult language with many nuances that even native speakers have trouble with. I do business in Asia with people who speak quite well, but when we e-mail and they try to spell and communicate in English, have a difficult time. So keep trying, and if you have any questions, contact me and I'll help you out!

Ignore the guy.

It may be news to him, however we know that most people on this world don't speak english as a first language, let alone a second.

Your english is pretty stinking good as it is. I wish I couild speak spanish half as well as you speak english.

Is it just me, or has it occurred to anybody else that rather than having the two towers parallel, it would make better sense view wise if the towers were built at the NE and SW corners or something like that.

This way is fine. They'd impact each other's views regardless. Arguably some key views would be worse if they were offset.

Let's keep a close eye out on this project, the developer said recently they could be starting in March if the market shows some improvement.

I keep seeing more and more adds for this all over. In the Alaska Airlines Magazine and Horizon Airlines Magazine. Also there is a add in the Airport and I have seen a few on some buses.

Do you guys think this has a chance at getting built this cycle?

They seem to think so. That's a good sign.

Truck loads of soldier piles have been delivered each day this week. Should see the drilling rig on site pretty soon.

They drill holes and put these large steel beams in the ground. It helps support the earth as they dig down. They then may spray concrete on the wall as they go down.
Here is an example I took of City Center II in Bellevue in 2006.

how about a Soldier Pyle? some great quotes in that movie

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Full_Metal_Jacket

some good ones: (not sure what gets filtered on here)

Today... is Christmas! There will be a magic show at zero-nine-thirty! Chaplain Charlie will tell you about how the free world will conquer Communism with the aid of God and a few Marines! God has a hard-on for Marines because we kill everything we see! He plays His games, we play ours! To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep Heaven packed with fresh souls! God was here before the Marine Corps! So you can give your heart to Jesus, but your ass belongs to the Corps! Do you ladies understand?

and

"Tonight... you pukes will sleep with your rifles! You will give your rifle a girl's name! Because this is the only pu**y you people are going to get! Your days of finger-banging old Mary Jane Rottencrotch through her pretty pink panties are over! You're married to this piece, this weapon of iron and wood! And you will be faithful!

Typically soldier piles have wood lagging (timbers) spanning between their flanges to support the earth. If you see concrete being sprayed it's more likely a "soil-nail" shoring system using shotcrete. Deep excavations can use either type (or some combination) depending on soil conditions. Both soldier piles and soil nail systems use a tieback drill rig to place anchors at an angle into the earth to hold the piles or shotcrete. Vertical steel piles are usually "tied back" with steel cables that are inserted into the angled holes with grout. Once the grout has cured a couple days then the cables are stressed and excavation can continue. Soil nails are typically solid steel rods (like rebar) that are also grouted but they're only secured with a plate washer and nut so they're not actively stressed against the earth.
None of the above is absolute - there are always interesting combinations of shoring systems.

(Yes - I'm back!)

I saw those piles too and was worried they might be part of whatever else has been staged out of that lot for the last few months. Still, it would be fantastic to hear they were going ahead with this project.
