Time for another update, today:

They are pumping the water out of the lake for the underground car park, a few weeks ago they build a concrete floor under water.

On the site of the smallest tower they have started the groundworks before the foundation can be made. It involves the relaying of some pipes and cables.

They're also still demolishing the last parts of the old building

On the other site of the old building they started to drill holes, probably for the new foundation. For the difficult places they use this machine.

And on the location for the tallest tower of the two they are still demolishing the last bits and pieces.

It takes a bit of time to actually start constructing the towers, but with the complexity of the location that's not surprising. Parts of the old building will be in use for the hotel the entire construction. That makes it more difficult then when when you start building on a open field. Hopefully we'll see some proper foundation work in the near future and after that it will only be upwards!

Today,

There's no more lake, here are 4 pics!

And the towers, everything is demolished so they can start building.

On the site of the lower tower they are ready to go drill some piles for the foundation, if they haven't already done some.

On the site for the bigger tower is being cleared up to so they can make a clean start.

A new angle, although it's an old version of the design it's nice.

And some pictures taken by me today:

start of the core?

Machine

And the underground parking next to the project

It's a very impressive building site! It's huge and the tram viaduct and the because it's build around the old building it's very interesting. All this right between the busy central station, the park and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And it will soon start to rise, making the updates more interesting.

I've been to The Hague on Sunday and was amazed by all the construction near the Centraal Station. The 5 skyscrapers going up there will really change the skyline of The Hague completely.

There's finally some upward movement

And there's a beginning of a crane.

it will stand on some sort of platform that's still under construction.

This crane will be used for the new parts that will be build over the old building.

The foundation for the big columns that will support the new parts.

Beside these 2, there are 3 ministerial and residential towers to be built nearby. Check this (Dutch) thread.

You quoted an old update from a few weeks ago, but since that one wasn't posted here it even makes the progress a bit more clear.

this is the 29-3-2008 update:

lot's of rebarb for the ground floor

the foundation for the crane:

The start of the big pillars

The tram viaduct doesn't go trough New Babylon, but it goes over the underground parking right next to it. But above the underground parking a project called "De Lampion" will be build. An old design this project would have been build partly over the viaduct. A new design could have the same feature, that's not something out of the ordinary for The Hague btw. There are tram viaducts going trough buildings on several places.

High time for a new update!

today:

Tower 2 begins to grow, with pillars being constructed

more scaffolding

ans also forms for the 1st wall

Second floor for the low rise parts.

the big pillars also have grown a bit

And the hotel in the old Babylon stays open for business, you just have to enter it via a container.

Old Babylon today

And right next to all this construction this is also still going on

This is for sure a funny translation mistake. "Hoog tijd" doesn't translate as "High time"

But anyway, thanks for all your updates.
