I get what you mean about safety. Just that it's not exclusive to the Philippines to have that, er, mistake, or as you imply, lack of common sense.

Oh, I wouldn't put it that much. Many all over the world has that common sense. Perhaps worth noting is that includes a good number of common people and architects and electrical engineers, and developers in the Philippines, too.

Thus, I wouldn't hastily conclude that photo is of a condo in the Philippines based on the lack of commons sense in having the socket in the shower. I'd conclude that is a condo in the Philippines because it says so that it is a unit in Stamford condo in the Philippines.

at least this one had the electrical outlet above the shower head. in MW's greenbelt chancellor project it's right under the shower head. speaking of common sense... i questioned this also in GC's thread.

Oh dear! Sobra naman sa pagka-mali ang Megaworld sa project na yan, Nez. Lol! Yah, like what you said, at least above the shower yung socket sa flats namin dito sa Riyadh. Saka, water sealed kind sya. At least sa building namin ha.

It was intended as a light hearted observation.

The cable should go directly into the back of the shower unit, there is no need for a socket and plug like that.

Point well taken. I understand.

It's just that maybe, as somebody who is also outside the Philippines, one does hear some, for lack of a better way to put it, "laughs" (and I don't mean nice ones) over Filipinos and the Philippines, so that I felt concerned when I read your post.

But yah, we all agree it's risky having such in the shower.

I see where you are coming from. I didn't intend to cause any offense. I am not Filipino but love the Philippines and its people

(May I say first, I had half the mind not to reply anymore; but...)

Oh, wow! And I thought you are Filipino. Got me thinking, all the more you should have been a little more, er, mindful of your "light observation", right? Especially for a while there, when I thought you hit me full with sarcasm when you said you're "sure half the world does it".

Anyway, I believe you are sincere in your most recent reply here which I qoute.

That's one of the problems with internet forums its easy to have misunderstandings or take things the wrong way. We should just leave this as it is.

While that may be true, I don't think there's any other way to take your post -- That there's an electric socket in the shower, it is in the Philippines; no other part of the world has that lack of commons sense - only the Philippines. Plus, the same lack of common sense at the kitchen counter probably, where socket is near sink.

I guess what's important is to be careful what we post, no matter how lightly...

Yes, let's close the subject

I am sure its common in many countries but I have seen it first hand many times in the Philippines which is why I said it.
It is common sense not to have a electric socket in the shower or near any source of water so obviously if someone thinks that is acceptable then they lack common sense.

If any of that offends you then that's your problem.

Oh, no I won't lose sleep over it like it's a problem. Just thought I'd point out your condescending sweeping conclusion. You know, forums, you post some, you get some. The point is not anymore whether it's correct or not to have that socket in the shower. We all know it's not. The point is whether it's correct to conclude it is only in the Phils.

Meanwhile, that you post an incorrect sweeping conclusion and don't have the grace to correct it when initially proded politely, and that you instead reply with sarcasm, and that you grudgingly offer an apology (or was that really an apology? I wouldn't readily conclude) when further challenged, that this all indicates your high handed ego as a forumer -- is your problem. Lol! Cheers!

I seem power plug in countries like India before. Very very common. But they use it to power the ventilation fan in the toilet though. No luxury item like heater in those place I being since weather is about 30-40 deg C during summer. hee

As I have pointed out it was just a light hearted/funny observation which was not intended to cause any offence. Obviously it is not a literally correct statement. In that context I don't see anything wrong with the comment, if it came across wrong initially then I do apologize for that.

I will not comment any more on this.

There's a thin line between "light" and "careless".
You did not intend to cause offense. You say "if" it comes across wrong. Somebody here is giving you feedback it did.

So, yes, your apology took a long while coming.

Enough said.
