I like this design, it breaks the monotony of La Defense, change from all those flat tops. The other design was nice too but it was a another monolithic building amongst many slabs.

I actually quite like La defense, the buildings are clean and the glassy facades make it more futuristic, a break with the rest of Parisian architecture.

This new project will give it another point of interest, especially being eco- orientated.

I like both projects...very much.... i ts true that it kinda make la défense much less flat, which make sit nicer. I hope they could use the other project for ld though... perhaps for Tour Signal???

Nice tower! But I thought that half of the buildings of La Defence were almost empty. Is it true or not?

@Stroller : where did oyu hear that ? the vacancy rate in La Défense is around 5 or 6%.

@giovani kun:the project is very recent, the demolition of the current building should start before the end of the year, and the construction of the tower is supposed to start in fall 2008.

Yes without it you can't see the skyscrapers like this.
Actually la Defense is at 6 km of this place.

You can still see them, not as close as on that picture, but you can still see them. Today I was in the bus on rue de Rivoli near Chatelet, in the heart of the medieval center of Paris, a good 8 km. (5 miles) from La Défense, and yet the skyscrapers were clearly visible in the horizon of the street. I was trying to imagine how it would look when they build the Generali Tower and the new Axa Tower, which will be both just in the horizon of the rue de Rivoli. It will be quite an impressive view I reckon.

This is what I mean. Here these roller bladers are on rue de Rivoli very near Chatelet, and you can still see the skyscrapers of La Défense in the end of the street, 5 miles in the distance.

On that one too. The building on the left is the Louvre Museum. The Generali Tower will stand exactly in the end of the street, about two-third taller than the towers you can see in the distance.

Ok, It will be a landmark.. but the quality of the design, IMO, It's not good enough for Paris!

That's not ugly. The top looks modern and nice. It's like shattered glass at the top of it. At last Paris seems to build some new towers. The old ones looks, well, old. Except the beautiful Tours Société Générale, which I believe they're gonna ruin with a new tower.
