The villas came afterwards, I was talking about the natonalisation process and how it proceeded for the branches of my family and other people I know in Plovdiv. But as I said, too young to remember those acts

I accidentally found this night video of that partially constructed urban freeway through Skopje I mentioned. It's been recorded probably by KFOR staff and it shows a Greek convoy of tanker trucks delivering petroleum products to Kosovo.

In a recent interview for Porta3, the head of the National fund for magistral and regional roads Natasha Valkanovska claims that the "1st phase" of the bypass will be finished ahead of time, by the end of this year. I assume she is talking about the eastern section. The deadline for the whole thing remains June 2008.

As mentioned in the Macedonia Transport Infrastructure thread, some peasants are again fucking with the bypass, this time threatening blockades if the bypass is not shifted at least 200m from the nearest house!



I'm not sure where did they came up with this ummm... scientifically proved safe distance , but the authorities promise that they will not make any more compromises! Thank god for that.

Блокирана е изградбата на скопската обиколница. Кај делницата Хиподром -Оризари, жителите на Стајковци ја запреа работата на Гранит. Имало и физички пресметки.

Велат дека изградбата на автопатот ја загрозува безбедноста на нивните домови. Иако Фондот за патишта неколку пати ја менувал трасата по која ќе минувал автопатот, на крај одлучил таа да поминува на дваесетина метри од нивните куќи.

Од фондот за патишта не попуштаат. Велат дека блокадите нема да ги спречи да ја завршат обиколницата. Студијата за изградбата на автопатот е направена уште од 2002 година. Истата ја одобрила и Европската инвестициона банка.

На терен излегле и од Институтот за сеизмолошки истражувања. Нивните анализи дополнително ќе утврдат дали изградбата на обиколницата е опасна за жителите на Стајковци. Изградбата според договорот со Европската инвестициона банка мора да заврши до 2008.

Huge amounts of money and time have been spent for countless studies to satisfy these fucking peasants and two major re-alignements already fucked up the project in many ways. But I guess the peasants will never be satisfied... They think it is best to live in the 19th century. Or maybe they are not that stupid because they were not so shy when asking for interchanges to be built at every step so every tiny village will have its own interchange. But when it comes to the other aspects, they "fail" to see the benefits of the bypass. Fuck them! I really hope that there will be no more appeasing these bastards. It's high time to end the habit of letting illiterate peasants and hysterical grannies adjusting huge projects to their irrational wishes. Too much damage has been done already - enough is enough!

Here is a map from a study concerning exactly that stretch of the bypass and done because of exactly that particular group of peasants:

The green part was the original plan, but they already shifted it some 30m IIRC. The red route is the current and I hope the final one.

now I'd say 30mins - 1h. It's still a transit street passing through some industrial and sparsly populated areas most of the way cause it would have been worse otherwise
