Congrats to Leicester which seems to be overshadowed by Nottingham at times, beautiful and cosy city and glad its getting a high class highrise planned. The building seems a lot taller than 117m, I'd say it looks closer to 150-170m and almost as big as Beetham Manchester. How many floors will this have and what are floor to ceiling heights?

The tallest tower will have 39 storeys (117m), the second tallest 26 storeys (79m) and the shortest 20 storeys (61m)-stats from skyscrapernews website.

According to the website, a contractor is being chosen with their 'world famous' engineers-if that's any help.

The diggers that are currently present are performing archaelogical digs, prior to any builders moving to site. The site is near the centre and has many Roman remains and other historical interest.

Here's hoping they don't find owt of 'international significance' like the first Tesconius Metrodium founded in 120AD.

Or something like the Roman curse tablet found nearby on the Highcross Leicester site - cursing the person who pinched the cape of the writer!

A few years ago we would never have imagined this .. not only proposed but actually approved and apparently in the process of tendering for construction companies
