God, I hope so! This is one of my favorite current proposals. They did say an October start...

Does anyone know- does this project have all tr necessary permits to begin? Just curious why we're so far past the anticipated start date.

The main project number looks fine, but there's a "post issuance submittal" for the foundation and structure submitted on the 13th that's labled "Corrections Required" as of the 15th for conveyance and hasn't been reviewed yet by the other departments.
(edit) "Conveyance" meaning elevators, for those following along. I didn't see anything in the comments that would slow down foundation work, but we'll have to wait and see what the other trades' comments are. (edit again) "Target Date for Completion of the Current Review Cycle: 1/8/2013" :-( Last edited by Matt the Engineer; November 19th, 2012 at 07:24 PM. |

Well thanks for the super thorough answer. That explains it.
Looks like early 2013 is the new start date for this one. |

They're getting close to a building permit.

Re-development can be pretty ugly sometimes. Just once I'd like to catch a (not too swift) tagger and put his fingers out of action for quite awhile.).

I would like to throw urine-filled water balloons on to their head from my elegant high-rise eyrie.

I'm stoked for this project.
I was wondering...why didn't they just demolish the whole building a few years ago instead of leaving part of the first floor sitting around? Wouldn't that invite taggers who love "urban sprawl"?

As for why the building was partially demolished - I'm not sure, but I'd like to think this was an exception to DPD's general requirements/expectations. Other people here have a better understanding of permit requirements but when demolition is approved and commences I think DPD expects it to be completed (either parking lot, new building or some other decent condition). I think this developer and contractor fell on their face during the great recession. Contractors love getting demolition going so the project gets some momentum but sometimes the money really isn't there.

As far as a graffiti magnet - that's fine. Think of it this way: better to have the dog shit in the yard than in the house.

Based on what I saw here, it doesn't look like it. I didn't see any signs of activity the last time I went by there (a couple of weekends ago).

The shoring permit generally signals a project start. Reviews were completed (successfully passed) a week or so ago. I don't know what other hurdles there are to actually receive a permit, but it could be at any moment.

Well that's pretty good news. Is the shoring permit just what allows them to dig and shore up the pit?
