Yorkville will ramp up a few notches with this, the Holt Renfrew Tower, and impeding Saks development across the street. I hope they go for a complete re-build of the Bay store/site.

Thanks for all the updates Mar!

Yorkville will definitely be something special in the future. The redevelopment of Hazelton Lanes, Cumberland Terrace redevelopment, 1 Yorkville, perhaps 1 Bloor West? and as you mentioned, 1 Bloor with it's retail, Saks coming to Yonge and Bloor and the Holt expansion. Amazing times

December 30th by urban_dreamer. Giving you a sense of the 'curves' of the podium.

Still far too many buildings like that brown corrugated metal block on the right. Hopefully, in 5 years things like that will be a rarity downtown.

I couldn't agree more.

Does anyone know if that building with the corrugated facade treatment have anything of value underneath it? Doesn't seem like it based on the base and shape of windows.

I'd like to know as well, but judging by the size/shape of the windows a lot of any architectural integrity was lost a long time ago. Even if a Victorian/Georgian facade could be re-created I'm not keen on encouraging more of that on our main street. Outside of the core, I'd be all for salvaging what we can, but they're far too low brow for where they're located.

Pretty large floorplates for a residential tower.

That's the podium, the actual tower is just the intersecting rectangle of the "L shaped" podium floor plate at the corner.

That bit is still a big floor plate.

Excellent Updates! This tower has a nice design, and even in the construction phase you can see how it makes the surrounding buildings look outdated.

February 19th by kotsy. Podium porn and a first glance at the cladding (though it's too difficult to tell what it looks like).
