This is not topped out yet. At least the photo evidence does not suggest so. The status was prematurely changed.

I would consider it topped-out when all the arches have reached their final height (i.e. when structural work is finished).

It reached it‘s final height with one arch so it‘s topped out.

From Wikipedia (source):

In building construction, topping out (sometimes referred to as topping off) is a builders' rite traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed atop a structure during its construction. Nowadays, the ceremony is often parlayed into a media event for public relations purposes.

Further, from "The Topping-out Traditions of High Steel Ironworkers" (source)

Topping out is the term used by ironworkers to indicate that the final piece of steel is being hoisted into place on a building, bridge, or large structure.

There may be other definitions of "Topping Out" but as far as I am concern, this building is not topped out yet.

If you look back at post #853 there are pics of the topping out ceremony. The builders say t/o so that's reason enough for me to believe. Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing the crown complete

Tianjin CTF Finance Centre meets CTBUH's criteria for a building to be architecturally topped out.

Here are CTBUH's current definitions:

Structurally Topped Out: The building is under construction and the highest primary structural element is in place.

Architecturally Topped Out: The building is under construction and has reached its full height both structurally and architecturally (e.g., including its spires, parapets, etc.).

It does not specify that structure have to be complete at the top. Status of this tower on CTBUH Skyscrapercenter.com now says "architecturally topped out." Here's the screenshot. No doubt we've seen the owner and builder's celebratory photos. Consider how superlative this design, however, I found it curious there has been no news release from its original architect...

This tower won this year's Autodesk's AEC excellence award in the construction category. But, only the contractor China Construction Eighth was credited while the architects are not even mentioned... https://www.autodesk.com/solutions/b...on/first-place

Why would the architect be credited? They are rarely involved that much in the BIM process, which is mostly a back-and-forth process between the consultants and the contractors (which may in some cases be within the same company). The architect only determines what the building should look like, it's the job of somebody completely different to figure out the details and make the building work, never mind building it according to those drawings.

Chinese construction companies have quickly become the best worldwide; now building supertalls is routine work for many of them, and they are using the best, most high-tech tools. Amazing progress, also shown in many other Chinese industries (bikeshare, mobile payments, etc).
