FYI, it's not yellow, it's green primer coat! Besides, color doesn't in any way make planes easy targets. Can you easily shot this down?

An 124 transporting a Tiger attack halicopter from EU to OZ

The Sokols will probably be transported by a large Russian or Ukrainian antonov an 124 one or two flights would be sufficient to transport all 4 of the first batch whitin 3 days or so, at least i hope they use air transport lol instead of by ship like those extra hueys last year which would take two month's but i think it will be by air if it is to arrive next month .
What happens if the cargo plane carrying the 4 PAF Sokols crash thus destroying all 4 helicopters on board?

Siyempre, total ang apat. Tapos gagawa na naman sila ng kapalit. Ibig sabihin, another long waiting months!

Well that's what shipping insurance is for ..., besides it won't really be PAF property until they are handed over which i presume will be in the country not in Poland so if something happens along the way the burden of failing to comply with a contract will be on the manufacturer .

Like Parchie said gagawa nanaman ng apat na kapalit on their cost, lol i guess it depends on the contract i hope they covered all the angles on that .

Anyway the antonov flight usually takes longer than a regular civilian passenger flight because they tend to take a break along the way so 2 or 3 days instead of a direct flight and these flight's usually occur without incident .

nakakahinayang lang talaga yun time ni marcos may self reliance group ang AFP, ngayon umaasa na tayo masyado sa gawang banyaga... may nabasa ako dati yun time din ni marcos may rocket launcher na ginawa din tayo... parang lahat yta ng mga Marcos era R&D ndi yta na produce after marshal law... sayang talaga...
My theory is that "self reliance" was a cover for slashing the budget don't forget that the military budget as a % of gdp started it's long decline especially during martial law .

USCG Dallas 716

In other highly interesting news :

Quote:
Campbell said the US is considering a “reasonable” Philippine request also to transfer gear stripped from the Hamilton before it was handed over .

The US took the sensors from the ship before it was decommissioned, as well as its communications and electronics equipment, and close-in weapons system, which is used to detect and destroy at short range incoming antiship missiles and enemy aircraft.

The ship, commissioned in 1967, was transferred under a program that offers “excess defense articles” to foreign partners in support of US national security and foreign policy objectives.

Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense Peter Lavoy said the Hamilton had completed on Monday its first patrol in the vicinity of the Spratly group of islands.
http://globalnation.inquirer.net/253...arship-from-us
I have read somewhere another source from this report that the US has now agreed to return all the stripped gear including the Phalanx gun anyone read more about this for confirmation ?, it would be great news and it would likely mean that USCG Dallas would be handed over with all it's systems if true .

The formidable huey,..IMO, consider as the best PAF close air support yesterday and i hope until today and tomorrow for LIC operations,..modified to carry chain guns and 2.5in rocket launchers in its pods and as long as the rebels and the enemies don't acquire SAMs, it's a practical choice for close air support of our ground troops vis a vis troop carrier,..

I think that no matter who the president is, these types of innovations should always be pursued by the AFP and special funding from Phil Congress should always be allocated for research and development.

MANILA, Philippines - The military announced Wednesday that it has received 4 brand new combat utility helicopters from PZL Swidnik of Poland.

Maj. Gen. Roy Deveraturda, AFP deputy chief of staff for plans, said the 4 choppers arrived at Clark Air Base Tuesday night. A Philippine Air Force assessment team is currently inspecting the shipment.

Deveraturda said the helicopters can be used for disaster response, transportation of troops and evacuation of the wounded.

He said the AFP is expecting delivery of 4 more helicopters in the last quarter of the year.

He said the Philippine Air Force currently has about 40 operational helicopters including UH-1H “Huey” helicopters and MD-520-MG gunships from the United States.

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), backed by police and military personnel in Zamboanga City, arrested an Abu Sayyaf mid-level leader Tuesday.

CIDG Regional Director Generoso Bonifacio said the arrest took place around 6 p.m. at the waterfront public market in this city.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

Bonifacio identified the arrested bandit sub-leader as Abdulhan Ussih alias Jeron, 28, who is staying in the village of Sinunuc.

Ussih was nabbed following months of surveillance operations on his activities.

"We have been monitoring him since November of last year," Bonifacio said, citing Ussih has a warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

Ussih is into “buy-and-sell” business, which authorities believed to be his tactic to hide his identity as an Abu Sayyaf mid-level leader.

Bonifacio said Ussih, who carries a P3.3-million reward for his arrest, is the sub-commander of Abu Sayyaf leader Radulan Sahiron, the oldest among the remaining bandit leaders based in the province of Sulu.

Ussih was reportedly involved in the kidnapping of 21 people, including 10 Europeans, nine Malaysians and two Filipinos, in April of 2000 in Sipadan, Malaysia.

He was also involved in the kidnapping of six members of the Jehovah's Witnesses on August 2002 in Patikul, Sulu.

Bonifacio said they have witnesses who are victims of the kidnappings in Sipadan and Patikul who executed affidavit and positively identified Ussih as among those who kidnapped them.

Ussih will be transferred to a detention center in Manila since the case he is facing has been filed in a court in Pasig City, Bonifacio said. (Sunnex)

We need to solve the MILF problem peacefully, these people are very much filipinos I don't want to experience the same MNLF rebellion and war of hatred from the 70's,..pero kung ayaw nila ng autonomy ang they push for independence, we need to prepare for an all-out war with the MILF, as in budget for military hardware that will bring a fast conclusion to the war,..for the ABU SAYAFF and the lost commands, no tolerance to these criminals,..The MILF/MNLF has a noble cause, except for there independence bid which is unacceptable,..

4 new utility helicopters now in PHL

FOUR of the eight utility helicopters that were bought by the previous administration under the Armed Forces Modernization Program are already in the country, military officials said on Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Roy Deveraturda, Armed Forces deputy chief of staff for plans and programs (J-5), said four of the eight Sokol (Falcon) helicopters from Polish-Italian defense supplier Augusta PZL Swidnik have arrived at Clark Field in Pampanga.

“The four utility helicopters are being assembled and will soon be inspected by the Air Force. These are a great addition to our capability, and we hope to use them soon,” Deveraturda said.
