There's also the one at King's Dock (Staybridge) mentioned by Thudbucket previously.

![]() Thanks. I wasn't sure whether that one was still there given work on the Kings Dock is already complete or very far advanced. Liverpool One - - White - 2 - Red - 5 - Blue - 1 Kings Dock - 1 Columbus Quay - 1 Hope Street - 1 Hanover Street -1 Total = 12

Thanks Joe. We really should keep this updated more often, so long-standing cranes aren't presumed to have been taken down long ago.
Liverpool One - - White - 2 - Red - 5 - Blue - 1 Columbus Quay - 1 Kings Dock (Staybridge) - 1 Hope Street (Hotel Extension) -1 Hanover Street (Novotel) -1 Duke Street (Lever Court) - 1 Total = 13

Agree with your sentiments! There's one white crane now at Liverpool 1, the Kings Dock and Hope Street cranes have been dismantled. Still nothing on Mann Island, but I have a feeling that this will be a steel construction, using mobiles, al la the Museum.

Looks like a second crane might be going up at Mann Island this morning. A couple of artics with sections of crane were there at about 10.00. Might appear on Wirralcam later.

![]() Now clearly visible on Wirralcam, just to the left of the first crane. The weird thing is, I saw the vertical section go up yesterday on Wirralcam, and was just about to post. But over maybe 15 minutes, it was promptly taken down again, and was no longer visible for the rest of the day. I know we've been losing cranes quite fast recently, but I thought 15 minutes from assembly to dis-assembly was bad even for us. Anyway, now it's up again - Liverpool One - - White - 1 - Red - 5 - Blue - 1 Columbus Quay - 1 Hanover Street (Novotel) -1 Duke Street (Lever Court) - 1 Mann Island - 2 Total = 12

![]() Compared to around a year ago when we had over 30 cranes, 11 is a bit poor. However we are in a transition phase with several projects completing and others yet to start. As new developments begin to replace those ending, our total should improve somewhat.

It wasn't that long ago, (around 2003/4) when there were no cranes at all on the Liverpool skyline. (Note that we have always counted fixed tower cranes as opposed to mobile cranes, which may give us a low count in comparison to some cities).
Certainly the L1 development added considerably to the total and that is well past its peak now. I think it will be a long time before the 30 cranes record is broken, what with the credit crunch and the completion of major projects such as L1 and the current phase of Kings Waterfront. Maybe we will have to wait for Liverpool Waters to start in earnest. |

I think we forget that we've had six years of tower cranes coming and going, beginning with Beetham's original Old Hall St scheme. I think Martin is quiote right, it will be some time before we hit 30 cranes again. Wirral Waters and Lpool Waters are in the dim distant future, maybe tomorrow's Liverpool 1 as in next decade. Meanwhile, here's a crane count taken this morning:
Liverpool One - - White - 1 - Red - 3 Columbus Quay - 1 Hanover Street (Novotel) -1 Duke Street (Lever Court) - 1 Mann Island - 2 Total=9.

Hmm, not much to say about that really is there? The Paradise Street cranes are unlikely to be around for more than another couple of months at best, which will leave us with 5 - and one of them isn't even used (Columbus Quay). Oh well, I suppose all these cranes coming down simply means our city has taken another step forward with more developments completing.
Also, I know we don't count cranes outside the city centre, but the one on Edge Lane is a big one, easily visible from all directions.

You could add the cranes working on the airport hotel. Last time I looked, there were two. |
