Nope. I passed it last week. There's only subway constructions on that plot (subway line 11). The new subway station will open this year though, I'm not sure if the building is waiting for that or not (on the same plot).

Seems unlikely at the moment. The area is full of apartment houses and includes a short but nice restaurant street. One of my favourite hot pot restaurants is there, would hate to see it gone.

But hey, at least it looks awesome. Xujiahui rules.

I really hope they don't go with that design. I mean really? A park surrounding the building? Such poor judgement, it's really inexcusable in the 2010's. If this was a project from the 1990's, you can argue that developers don't know any better and think that more green space = better. Buildings in this location should only come out to the street to enhance walkability and access.

Couldn't agree more. I can't stand the blind alligence to "green space". You want green? Build stuff close together so there is less need for cars and other forms of transport. What China needs to do is stop Beijingifying every damn place, and look at Beijing's plan and do the opposite of that. Beijing is already a lost cause, but we can preserve other cities in China by promoting more pedestrian and cycling friendly development, rather than insular spaced out facades surrounded by 16-lane highways.

I agree, but according to this render those three buildings will be facing directly to Hongqiao Road, which isnt a poor judgement in my opinion. It would be worse if they were located inside the green space, but they're not. The park is a great idea, it will allow people visiting the Grand Gateway Mall to take a break from their shopping and stroll around in a quiet atmosphere without taking the boring underpass all the way to Xuhui Park.

Amazing. I didn't really think it was going to materialise. Will be the tallest building in Puxi.

Good news! So what's the current design? I've gone through the pages, but it seems there's no final render yet. Also, if there's going to be a spire, what will be the approximate roof height?

In Xujiahui (hence the name), this used to be the best district in Shanghai, but now has been overtaken by Jin'an district.

Its to the south of Shanghai.

Anyone who lives in SH passes by Xujiahui on a regular basis??

We need someone to give some regular updates ASAP, this is going to be a great addition to the Xuhui skyline. Adding this to the existing Grand Gateway towers and other surrounding scrapers, it will make Xujiahui by itself a legit skyline for a decent sized city. Can't wait to see it rise, I lived not too far from there (around the intersection of Huaihai and Hunan roads) when I was studying in China.

Great news. This project will give me an excuse to go to Xujiahai. I generally avoid the district like the plague.

What do you don't like with Xujiahui? Explain a bit because I haven't been there.
