Demolition in the southwestern corner of the area has begun. This building has been stripped of its facade:

It's torn down from the inside out:

The small highrise is being scaffolded for its upcoming renovation. The building to the right with its facade of greenish glass will remain untouched. The buildings on the left and right image border will be torn down.

View from the south: The corner building is gone, everything else will be torn down as well.

Its so nice to see this ugly stuff getting demolished. The new riverfront view will be awesome.

Are there any updates? Demolition should be in its final stage now.

I took two pics yesterday. The largest building in the center of the site is almost gone, but there are quite a few buildings on the edges that still need to be demolished. They will probably be finished by around february/march of next year.

Isn't it time to move this thread to the U/C section as (as shown above) the construction/redevelopment has already begun..?

Any objections?

not quite. the first stage of the development - the Maintor Primus - has been under construction for weeks now.

the second stage - the Maintor Porta - is about to start construction.

Is it me does does this design seem a bit dated and boring: low standard 1960's style?

you may call it boring, but why is stone cladding low standard?

30s early modern architecture is very popular in germany, the land of the bauhaus, nowadays (again). what you see is the revival of an architectural style, which changed the world decades ago.
