Two years after "The Beach" was launched, construction has not restarted.

http://www.na24.no/article2789953.ece

Arne Hvidsten says to Finansavisen that they are waiting for better economic conditions before they take up the construction.

Our project is of such magnitude that it also will be sold on the international market, not only the Norwegian. Therefore it is important to wait so that the global economy places greater share of the financial crisis behind them, as Norway has done, Hvidsten writes in an e-mail to Finansavisen.

Arne Hvidsten is still supporting apartment project "The Beach" on Jomtien Beach in Thailand.

Giant project, "The Beach" in Jomtien in Thailand was launched before Christmas in 2007, but construction was halted a year later. Hvidsten would sell the property for three billion. Although Hvidsten has said that it has sold 200 of the projected 605 apartments, but Finansavisen writing that they have documentation of the number is considerably lower.

Hvidsten said they now planned to take up construction at the end of 2010.

But we will always consider whether the timing is right, "said Hvidsten who expects to complete the project in 2013.

We will see something similar happen for this project?

Phuket resort scam: British CEO arrested

PHUKET: -- The British chief executive officer of a Phuket resort company has been arrested on fraud charges for allegedly cheating customers out of millions of baht.

Mr Steven James Granville, 43, CEO of Puravarna Resort Co, was arrested at the company’s office in Rawai.

Crime Suppression Division police had received information from Mr Anand Kumar Sen, managing director of Tycoon Group Co, a Singaporean company which represented 19 customers who had paid for Puravarna Resort Project residences.

Mr Anand reported to police last May that mr Granville and Puravarna Resort Co had advertised the development project in newspapers and had held exhibitions around the world in places such as Singapore, Hong Kong, UK and Australia.

According to advertisements, the company had started construction on seventy 6 to15 million baht units near Rawai in 2005 due to be be finished in 2009.

However, when customers began to realize the construction would not be completed on time, they began to ask questions, said Mr Anand.

Customers complaints were met with explanations ranging from flooding problems and financial difficulties to political problems.

Mr Anand said that, in fact, the company had never been granted construction permits by Phuket Province.

He added that the victims, who feel they have been cheated, “are from many countries and include well know people such as the owner of the Singaporean Tiger Beer Company. This case is tarnishing the reputation of Thailand.”

Mr Granville has denied the charges against him and refused comment.

In non-related news, the owner of this project, Arne Hvidsten, has been cast as a russian mafiaboss in a new Norwegian actionmovie: http://e24.no/eksklusiv/article3586822.ece

Someone has a sense of humor.

I went by this project.
There does not seem to be a lot of progress although the foundation work has been started.
Any update on the completion.

I am confused with you youyouyou. Sometimes you sing, sometimes you argue, sometimes you confuse me, but now you seem reasonable .

What happening with this project? I'm interested to buy and the site is still there but doesn't seem to be construction for this time. Remember before they were saying it was going to be a new luxury standard of Pattaya.

Jomtien is the new place to live and stay in Pattaya area. Dead for a while it is now getting busier and when the new projects are finished a lot of Thais will now be living there or going down for the weekends.
LPN has sold out all 3 towers only has 5 mil and up bigger units left. Their quality is very standard and they manage their properties well after sales. Very good value for money.
There was a farang group developing The Beach you will be drooling like a slob over the site.
