I've never noticed crap on the sidewalks in London. In Havana yes, and I've heard Athens is bad as well. They both have large farrow dog populations.

You can dig up examples to validate almost any argument. What I like about London's sidewalks is that they lift up the pavement piece to get below, then put it back after. That's the standard practice, but I'm sure someone will dig up examples to claim the opposite.

If that is a reference to my photos, I didn't dig up examples so please don't shoot the messenger. In fact it never occurred to me to pay attention to the sidewalk till the middle of my visit. I probably took 2000 photos in London, almost all of buildings. The sidewalks just happened to be in the pictures. At one point it occurred to me to look down on what I was walking on. The sidewalks of London range from amazing to underwhelming, and that is not a case of digging up examples, it is simply what I observed. Whatever you observed may be different. Okay?

Maybe in Chelsea or Kensington, but not anywhere the tourists don't go. I was forever falling "arse over tit" as a Londoner would say, because of uneven pavements, and coming home with something sticking to the bottom of your shoe was not an uncommon experience. I lived there for 40 years...believe me your sidewalks in Toronto are much better.

LOL how you guys do discuss such ...

No worries. You guys, MEN, are by no means and sure not at all to judge Sidewalks. Why?
because you NEVER wear heels and if you do, it will be like 1cm or perhaps 2cm and not more.

But if you have to wear heels, 6 to 8 cm at times, at least like I do, it is so easy to determine which place, which city or continent is Heel-Friendly. and I can assure you, Toronto is OK, I hardly had problems walking on my heels there.

London ... hmmm NO ... big no! not only at many times the sidewalk, but everytime you make a stop at a stoplight, these special tiles with sticking pointy dots/circles make your feet hurt! Gosh I can easily envision the pain of all the walking in London. All other European cities each have their own version of such painful nonsense tiles either at crosssections or in the middle or on the edge or in between different sidewalks. One street is OK, the other is a hell, one more around the corner is a heaven.

Off course shopping and automobile-free zones are exempt from such because they are equipped with smooth sometimes even marble or marble like stones and tiles. The rest isn't much fun.

So, if you hang out the tourist or not, look down or not, walk for hours and days or not, as long as you don't do it like I do or those like me, you won't get my message.

I took most of my heels neatly and nicely saved from the misery back home ... but here ...that is a different story! Thank you Toronto

I'm clearly talking about the process to get below, not anything else. Am I writing in Chinese?

Okay, I guess we have beaten this this offshoot to death, so let's get back to L Tower!

It's not in reference to you or anyone in particular. It's pertinent to the 'photos proving that the process of removing pavement pieces doesn't occur' that had a good chance of appearing after my post. Low and behold I do get a completely unrelated/irrelevant reply to my post, but about gum???

SSC never fails to astonish me.

I can't believe how many threads have degenerated into the endless sidewalks debate.

It's preferable to indifference.

In any case, as thrilling as it is, away from poo and gum and we'll get back to L Tower.

I think I underestimated the impact this will have on the skyline. It's already pretty tall, so it's hard to imagine it'll be twice the height it is now. Its location probably makes it look a lot more dominating than it actually is though.

The Backstage tower is probably going to be as tall, as this tower is right now, so from the waterfront, half the tower will be blocked. It will have a big impact on how this tower will appear from the lake but I think it might make it more interesting, seeing this monster growing out of the smaller tower.

Now you can see the inclined-part of the building. Nice

The view from Front Street by the Royal York might offer the best views of L Tower. You'll have unobstructed views of the curve. It will also block out one more piece of sky.
