Pffft....No side windows. Thats nothing.

Some of the houses Streuver built in the 'Broadway Overlook' Development two years ago don't have side windows OR rear rindows.

4 levels of brick on the side and siding on the back.

At that price point, privacy is more valuable than extra light. Also, it's easier to decorate rooms w/ windows on just one wall.

Yeah, I watch HGTV too much.

I'd want the view of downtown. Probably a good one from way up there.

My wife watches too much HGTV too. I would want the extra light as well. I live in a rowhouse and its a center unit. I relish the insulation and protection from tornadoes, but I would really like to have more light and views, even if its of my neighborhs across the street.

i'd take the side windows in the end unit. besides, they are 3 stories taller than those around them...so you are looking OVER your neighbors on the side!

Definitely not WR&A or EDSA... I have a feeling STV is doing the civil/planning.

Yes. The emergence of Silo Point is a great example of perfect creativity.

As much maligned the Jed property townhomes are in this forum, I walked by them and took a good look. They are interesting to look at as they step back from eachother and aren't just a solid flat wall. the brickwork is handsome, the detailing it nice and the change in the shapes of the windows and doors is nice too. I have to say that I am quite impressed and think they are a very nice addition to the neighborhood. Expecially when you consider what was once there, a nasty rat infested industial supply warehouse...

As an aside my friend's father used to work at the nickle plating facility that was there before JED. He lasted one day when he saw what was going on there. Turns out a few of his friends who worked there for a long time have recently died of cancer in the last few years, the dad is in his late 50's... So knowing this, I think the developer took a huge risk in not participating in the state's voluntary clean up program. If you enter into the program and comply, you prevent yourself from ever getting sued at a later date for environmental related issues such as getting cancer from your house. So this will be interesting to see how and if anyhting unfolds.

i agree. the detailing is very nice...it's just the scale that they got wrong. i thought i'd be a fan of the stepped design of the rowhomes, but when you come along Covington Street from the North (from Digital Harbor), you can't see any windows, making all of the towns read as a massive block. i just wish they'd have animated the portions that are stepped so there was some visual interest there. i also pray that they plant some trees out front so that someday these row homes are scaled to meet the street!

Those were models put together by the planning department to demonstarte their vision. This was presented at a public meeting a few years ago. the revised versions of the urban renewal are supposed to go to city council sometime soon. I can promise you that the development will look nothing like that. The incetives for height are just not there and developers will be forced to build to the 50' high table top limit, which is worse for all of us who live near this area.
