To be fair, that pic of it behind St Pauls isn't taken directly from Waterloo Bridge...but I'm still concerned that EH could use this as an impetus to block future development in this area. My only hope is that the silver cladding will make it somewhat 'lighter' on the skyline and blend somewhat with the cathedral.

twas a beautiful day today, and after seeing Tergat and this leading pack of men motor down Lower Thames Street, it was off to see the Beast of Broadgate:
From Finsbury Square ![]() Cladding replicating the diagonal crossbracing - looks good IMO ![]() cheeky pint on a bench in the Light Bar on Shoreditch High Street, and Broadgate looms over you. I've mentioned this before, but this be a perfect post-work beer stop for a look at the monster. Anyone keen? I do have normal friends, but they get tremdously bored in this bar as all I do is bang on about steelwork, cranes and the merits of anodized cladding! ![]()

That's actually not as bad as I'd imagined.
Unilever House is far, far worse in terms of its impact on St Paul's. At least with Broadgate, it's behind the cathedral rather than directly in front!! |

^ if the south bank complex had ivy plants hanging over the terraces it would look fantastic! Problem solved.

I had my doubts about this building's cladding and positioning of plants and suchlike, but now the glass and steel is actually going up, I think its going to be a quality addition...and yes I shall have a go at a render soon!!
