I took this picture in September. You can tell people are beginning to enjoy this part of the city more and more. I don't know if this section has been completed or if more will be done. Are they going to keep the grass?

wish Toronto had a waterfront like that which people could so easily access not blocked off from view by buildings, transit sheds, power plants and big box stores. I find the above so relaxing and uncluttered.

I know what you mean but that being said I do miss Toronto. Some great development going on there now.

In actuality, the waterfront condition is very similar. The problem with Warsaw is that it turns its back on the water and this is a nice start to re-engaging the edge.

It's a shame that such a majestic and grand building is going to be used as a church.

I'd rather see it as a museum or a science centre.....something like that.

There will be a museum in a building right next to it. And the church itself will be tourist sight worth visiting, especially as they plan to place a cementery nearby for significant Polish people.

The last President on exile of Poland, who died in Smolensk, is burried inside the temple already. Some others too. There will be a museum about the Polish pope next to the building as well.

I found the Warsaw waterfront more accessible, so many perpendicular streets feeding into it, no major highways blocking it off like in Toronto and where it does there are tunnels and overpasses. In Toronto we do have a nice stretch from the west waterfront almost uninterrupted to the Humber, beyond there nothing. And then a little in the east waterfront and then the beaches which essentially ends at the bluffs. And ofcourse the Spit near where I live which is amazing.

Exacly! Which is why, in my own (unpopular?) opinion, this is the perfect place for such grand looking church.

Wilanow district is a very ''New age'' district in Warsaw, with all its modern architecture, new age shops and young population it gives a very ''western'' vibe. The tempel of divine providence is a kind of parallel, showing that even though Poland is rapidly moving towards the west, taking in all its culture and habits, even in districts as ''New age'' and ''Western'' as Wilanow, there is still a place for old school polish culture and religion. Of course, with architecture adapted to the district.

I'm a big fan of it and even though it is a very heated subject in Poland (Alot of donations from the government) i hope to see it finished and ready to use real soon.

You don't have your own culture? I guess Poland is "monkey see, monkey do". The west has some good values and ideas but for Poland right now, it is important not to repeat western mistakes (ex. suicidal immigration policies).
Anyways, in light of what happened in France, I am glad that they're building a temple and not a mosque. I'll leave it at that.

Moving towards the west doesn't equal doing everything the exact the same way and changing the culture... Italy and Sweden are both in the "west", are they the same?
And it is true that Poland is closer to the west today, does that surprise anyone?
