Lots of wonderful projects in Warsaw. I hope all the empty lots/derelict buildings get filled or refurbished soon.

^ Shame only Proximo is gonna fill the plot. This area is going to be an urban nightmare, especially if you add the shiny hotdog tower to the mix.

I don't really see your point, hot dog is shining with chrome because Ghelamco likes it this way but still weird shape aside they put quite an effort in making this space more attractive with new squares, restaurants, trees, art galleries and they have to renovate the old buildings all around it:

whatever they do it's probably better than how it is now. Only nr 5 Griffin Towarowa is a disappointment here because it's just another big shopping mall in a place fit for two skyscrapers

actually they have created some beautiful public spaces. I took a sneak peak in September and was very impressed by the quality and the number of large trees. will be a great place to hang out during lunch or after work.

it would be grand to see a google map render with all these new towers (+ a massing of the Norman Foster tower ) just to get a teaser of what it's coming to Warsaw ! anyone please!!

I should've said that I'm not a fan of 1960s urban planning and planting towers surrounded by plazas and other forms of open space. Considering the size of the plot they acquired one would think an urban block is the way to go.

still not sure about the roof silhouette, a titch too massive, something is needed to break the mass.

glad there are no blind walls and a mid-block connection was created for pedestrians.

On the left you can see how this streetscape looked like up until WWII

I bonus - widok z Mostu Siekierkowskiego.

Warsaw Spire is the most mixed bag I have seen lately in Warsaw. There's only two angles that really work with its shape but otherwise it's not doing the skyline any good. It should go all way to the top of the spires and have a more circular floorplan.

Many projects of Warsaw look nice and all, but I miss a certain Polish/Varsovian stance to them. Something that says "this is Warsaw". Most projects are of globally exchangeable modernist design, like this stuff is built anywhere; thus neither iconic nor identifiable nor very interesting.

Maybe the 'New Berlin Style' or 'Hamburg's Neo Expressionism' can be some sort of inspiration here.

the only distinguishable Warsaw feature I see often is a motif that of rounding corners. This is very Warsaw, and I also think there is a vernacular expressed very subtly in the materials and proportions,, but especially interiors. It has a way to go, maybe some sort of rooftop parapet treatment or entrances. Sadly we are in a n era of sameness where star architects and their followers design the same things everywhere. In Toronto we suffer from the ubiquitous and boring glass curtain wall.

The Spire turns out suprisingly nice. Very difficult to designt towers, which are wider on top than in the middle or ground. This is one of the rare examples, where this style was done right
