The stadium looks very similar to toyota stadium. the difference was only the upper tiers. and the retractable roof also looks the same though with a different system

i don't share at all this view!! It has anything to do with toyota sorry!

The only thing which could remind me toyota is the roof and the colour of the seats. The rest is very different.

one question: is the roof is made in a rigid component or a frankfurt like structure ??

This stadium looks amazing from the outside! The landscaping and the design of the exterior are truly beautiful, one of my favourite stadiums under construction at the moment, majestic!

Didn't know they had such a strong team. They now eliminated OM, Villareal and Leverkusen (99%) in the UEFA Cup.
How are they doing in the Russian League at the moment? Did they ever play CL (or qualification)?

I think it doesn't mean much how Zenit is doing at the moment because Russian Premier League started its season just a few weeks ago. They played only 3 games!!

As for Champions league they haven't played in regular stages as far as I know. FYI Zenit's best performance in European club competitions was made when they ended up in semi finals in 0506 UEFA Cup, where they were defeated to Seveilla 1D and 1L(5-2 on aggregates)

And they are last season's Russian champioins right? Doesn't that mean they're automatically qualified for next year's Champions League?

Yes, Zenit won Russian Premier League last season. So they've got a ticket going directly to group stages of 32 without going through qualifiers. You could say they saw the best season in league last year.

Your fans were excellent yesterday, they outsang the Rangers fans despite their being only 1/4 as many. You also didnt ruin our city afterwards either like they did. I salute you

Yeh, Rangers were there in Numbers but man the support was dire I felt. At wolves, its a foregone conclusion mainly because it happens so many times that when you conceed you rally your troops! Rangers fans just sat down with thier heads in thier hands.

I noticed the same thing on the telly. The Russian fans were louder.

Great looking stadium by the way.

Nice looking blonde girl they kept showing on tv all match. Zenit fans seem far more attractive that the pimply overweight Rangers mob.

For sure Rangers fans are good but for those people who do not know russian football, Zenit fans are amongst the loudest most colourful bunches in Europe. If they get full house at new gazprom stadium with same fanset as petrovsky then atmosphere will be unbelievable!

Those masts make it look like a poor copy of the Millenium Dome -- and ugly.

At 62,000, would that be good enough for a World Cup semifinals?

not close to MD I don't think Kurokawa even bothered... that's just how he used to design stadiums and this one will be very original compared to toher sport venues worldwide.
The sole fact that closest comparison you got is a completely different MD proves it

As for capacity, it depends on detailed regulations for each World Cup. It could and should be enough, but FIFA decides here...
