I've been to Wellington, it's the only bit of Telford I've seen!
Rest of the town not like it then?

Wow! I love that ramp that the cars are going down!
![]() Sutton Coldfield's "skyscraper" is a pleasant looking building as I've said before. Nice and clean.

You should see the skyscraper the company that own it have built in Dubai! It's a whopper! Thanks for the pics, grafik. Good to see what's actually going on in the Gracechurch scheme! I should get up into that car park with my macro lens (but first I need to get the camera cleaned). The other car park by the Rose Centre has some height on it so we might get some views from there!

I have always wondered what is happening to the ramp?
Also can someone please tell me why the shopping centre had a tiny section of roof put on. The shopping centre would be better if it was fully under cover. I'd love to have the job of designing sutton town centre. I would remove the bus stops on the Parade have it funny pedestrianised and remove the bricked flower beds and use soft landscaping. I would use the land at the junction of lower queen street and the parade to develop a town square. Demolish the Red Rose Centre and library and in its place have a building of high quality design. I would remove the Newhall Walk retail park with something more fitting and a bit more mixed use/leisure facility. I think Sutton could sustain an ice rink as the closest one is Tamworth for which you need a car or Solihull which the 71 bus takes nearly 2 hours to travel to. I think the Town Hall square should also be pedestrianised fully and allow for restaurants to open up onto the square and allow for dining and entertainment making it feel a bit more cosmopolitan. ![]() Vote Hood for Mayor of Sutton Coldfield (oh we dont have one anymore)

As for the Parade, I would pedestrianise that and move the bus stops to Brassington Avenue which would compliment the new Gracechurch for easy flowing of pedestrians. I would remove the library and Red Rose Centre. Rebuild the library on site in a much better looking building. I would demolished McDonalds and the offices and car park behind it. I would turn that into a residential area though the Parade facing area will be the retail. Newhall Walk shopping area will be demolished and transformed into an entertainment area. There will be a cinema there (as the Empire cinema shocking and too far away) and possibly a nightclub. Nothing too vibrant though. As for the Birmingham Road, I think that that needs a little bit of work to the pavements to make it more pedestrian friendly. King Edwards Square (to the front of the town hall) should be pedestrianised and the road realigned to the car park behind the wall so that the space is opened up. This should be used for community events. The path leading down to Railway Road will be widened so that it is safer (cobbles are very slippy now) and much more inviting. The land either side of station street will be turned into quality offices - there's a lot of unused land (well car parks) and it is quite large which will make good floorplates.

Sounds like a plan. Lets get right to it. I dont mind the former Odeon in Sutton. After all it is a historic landmark in British Cinema. I remember feeling proud that Sutton has a recognised landmark of such Art Deco design as i discovered at Uni when the lecturer was talking about social history etc etc. Although i must admit the cinema urgently needs to be cleaned inside and out.

In the Sutton Coldfield News
Plans to build on Cinema car park for 45 and 50 apartments. There are rough sketches showing four-storey, three storey and two-storey elements to the scheme as the site slopes down Holland Road. The focal point would be an area with seven storeys. I think the car park for the cinema is way to big, i never see it filled up. Hope this isnt old news Erebuss

It certainly doesn't look like it. Sounds good! I hope it isn't you bog-standard apartment building though.I don't think anyone uses the car park there really. There's usually about five cars there at any given time. I went to the cinema last week to see what times they had and I was shocked to see Die Hard 4 only available at 3 times every day. We need something bigger and better really.

It's not quite heaven, but it's close enough
. It's just Castle Vale and Falcon Lodge which are holding Sutton Coldfield back from becoming heaven. All the chavs from those estates congregate in Sutton town centre, which also needs a lot of work done to it. I'm still thinking up a masterplan of sorts for it.
