MDC Wolfson Campus Development
I heard some news about it and was wondering if anyone heard anything or has a picture. It is supposed to have a cantilever roof. I think they might have a picture on the Daily Business News.

OMFG check out Oppenheim's design for the new Wolfson campus building!!!!
Its a little hard to get to and they don't allow linking to thier images so you have to go to the site, click on projects when the main page actually opens and its the 5th project from the left on the 2nd row from the top between COR and Element. Its the crazy wavy building. Someone could take a screen shot of it maybe and post it: http://www.oppenoffice.com/ |

OMFG is right. I can't say that I'm crazy about it, but this is exactly the type of building Miami needs.

That would be pretty neat, although it's inevitable that some people would immediately begin comparing its shape to some parts of the human anatomy---if you catch my drift.

I love it and it looks great, but i can already see everyone saying that its a ripoff of Koolhaas cctv building, and the design for the new hong kong government...

I'm not especially crazy about that building, but Miami needs something like that. Innovative designs and designs that challenge the conservative architectural opinions. That building could be the one "unique" complex/tower that Miami has, different from all the rest.
How tall would it be and what would they use the rest of it for that is not being used as part of the college? I don't personally think that this building would ever get the City of Miami's approval, and many people would object to it. However, I like it, and I think Oppenheim should try to build it. |

And this looks like if it were an architectural competition or a proposal for a vision project, it def. doesn't look like a for sure project-reminds me of lynx if you know what i mean, doesn't look viable from a financial standpoint. |

Architek, I agree for the most part with what you said....and by unique I meant unique to Miami, there's only a few buildings around the WORLD that look similar to that, most of the other condo and office towers that we have in Miami are not special, you could find tens to thousands of other buildings even in Miami itself and around the world that look similar to that. It may not be one of a kind in the world, but it's certainly different than anything else in Miami. A lot of the buildings downtown can't say that and among the ones that can, this proposal is more daring than anything else we've seen in a while.

Didn't dubai have a design for a building that was basically the Espirito Santo building but on 'roids.
Buildings get ripped off.. big woop. As long as no other building in America is designed similarly, i'm not complaining. |

It may be the same concept as the CCTV, but it is a very different building... think about how many buildings have resembled our citi tower in downtown, its just a box...I don't see anything wrong with the re-use and re-adaption of a similar shaped structure...

thats fucking amazing... so naturally theres no way it'll eve get built, especially if its a county building, ya, like theyll pay the extra money for actual architecture
then again, they did drop a half billion for the PAC, so who knows |
