Only on M6 and it's just 3,1 km which is a city section with small radius curves.

M0 south section is well known from photos (only expressway and a tragedy) and M3 in Budapest is not a motorway.

Is M0 connecting M5 and M3 at the moment? I drove through Budapest a month ago from M5 to road number 2 north of Budapest, towards Slovakia and i saw on the sign on th exit of M5 towards the airport also M3 Miskolc.

80 km/h motorways are widespread in urban areas of Europe.

its not silly, its used on urban motorways where traffic is a lot higher than other sections, curves are tighter and exits are a lot more frequent. They are relatively unknown to budapest as only now we are starting to have a proper mway system in the city. Just cause we aren't familiar with it, it doesn't make it silly. Motorways are not just about speed.

AFAIK it didn't really work out on Dutch motorways. The jams became shorter, but there were more jams throughout the whole day.

i dont think its about jams, its about safety. over here people generally think motorways are just about going at 150 km/h, which is fine outside cities, but they do the same in an urban area, and they dont realise its not the same thing (because of the reasons i mentioned before)

Main road 44 Békéscsaba-Gyula

Outskirts of Békéscsaba in 1998

10 years later

The beginning of the 2x2 lanes section near Békéscsaba

At-grade junctions (on the older 4 lanes correction at the half of the section)

Pedestrian overpass

Speed limit is 80 and 90 km/h here

2x2 and 110 km/h again

At about 230 meters long iron concrete pavement near Gyula. This test section was built in 2003.

Two older photo about this concrete before the 2x2 was finished

Turning 180 degrees in the Gyula bypass roundabout, we are on the same road backwards (direction Gyula -> Békéscsaba)

Separated bus stop with pedestrian underpass

Bridge over railroad

110

And we are at Békéscsaba again, roundabout of the 44 bypass

Do these 2x2 sections have controlled access? (grade separation)

If You mean enclosure near the road no, only deep gutters on both side, so vehicles can not turn up, but animals can cross the road.

Oh no, I meant if there are at-grade intersections, or on and offramps

Ah

No, there are only two at-grade intersections at the half of the road with the 80 km/h speed limit, the 2x2 sections have no crossings or interchanges.

There was an article quoted in our section about what will be completed this year, and what next. Well, this year, nothing. M43's first section(basically Szeged northern bypass) is behind schedule, said to be because of difficult utility infrastructure in the region(namely water pipes supplying Szeged). However, the list of sections to be inaugurated next year is impressive:

M31 - 12km 2x2 110km/h motorway M0-M3 shortcut
M4 - ~10km Kisújszállás bypass
M43 - 31,6km 2x2 130km/h motorway Szeged-Makó
M6 - 114km 2x2 130 motorway Dunaújváros-Bóly
M60 - 30,2km 2x2 motorway Bóly-Pécs
M9 - 12,3km 2x1 main road 51-54

total:210.1km

Really impressive! Does inaugurated mean tender has been finalized, deal signed and construction is going to kick-start next year or it's just a "plan"?

And is this the aforementioned M0-M3 shortcut?

As far as I know, "inaugurated" means the road opens to traffic

Exactly!
Construction works began on these sections mostly in 2007-2008.
For us romanians M43 is very important as we won't need to pass through szeged.Does somebody know if construction also started between mako and nagylak?

Hopefully the Makó - Nagylak section will tendered the end of this year and the construction will start 3-4 months after this.
