I couldnt find an article for that, but,it is mentioned here that if FIDESZ wins the next elections they will scrap it,instead of building it which is scheduled to happen next year:

This one is interesting.

In the picture you reference above, the M3 is mentioned as
"M3 autopalya epitese Nyiregyhaza - 49 sz. fout kozott (33,8 km)"

As far as I knew, the whole section Nyiregyhaza - Vasarosnameny was planned to be constructed in one contract, as follows:

M3 autópálya Nyíregyháza - Vásárosnamény közötti szakasz

Nyíregyháza - M49 autópálya között 2x2 sávos autópálya
Hossza: 26 km (2x2)

M49 - Vásárosnamény között 2x1 sávos autóút
Hossza: 20 km (2x1)

as per http://www.nif.hu/fejlesztes/24

So the NIF site is contradicting itself

Someone please enlighten us - what is the truth? What is this "33.8 km" section mentioned in the map?? Did they for the moment scrap the Vaja - Vasarosnameny section?

here are some photos of M0. i was in Budapest last weekend and i had a wish to drive over all bridges (and i made it, except Erzsébet híd and railway ones (i passed Margit híd under reconstruction by tram ), so when i went home, i drove to the north to pass Megyeri híd and i had to pass almost whole M0 (to intersection with M7). it is much longer than i expected! here are some random photos.
interesting thing: M0 passes i-don't-know-how-many-times boundary of Buda or Pest, and it is indicated almost each time

1.

2. old green signs

3. this 80 is annoying, although in place - maybe 90 would be better

4.

5. Pest megye

6. triple E-road

7. IMO, overpassing for lorries shouldn't be allowed in whole lenght

8. left line at old sections is claustrophobic because of barrier. was that barrier allways there, or there used to be only line divider before?

9.

10. Hárosi híd

11. M6 intersection

12.

13. new sections have 100 speed limit

14.

15.

16. leaving Budapest boundary end entering Pest county

17. and approaching M7. i missed to take a photo of little bit "slovenian-styled" sign here

18.

19.

You seem to have caught the only moment on M0 South when there was no freight traffic at all. Were you driving there on Sunday early morning?
When it is crowded with trucks (most of the time), 80 is enough. The intersections are very close to each other on that section, and at higher speeds drivers can miss the signs, which leads to dangerous situations.

There was a double line there before. As I mentioned, intersections are close to each other so many drivers simply made U-turns, and caused many accidents. The M0 was simply referred to in the press as the "death road".

i went there Sunday early at the morning (about 4-5h) and back in the afternoon (around 16h). i said that 80 is really in place, there are not many places for higher speeds at M0

no more photos. i traveled there during the night, and when i went back, i was quite tired so i took only few photos of M0, i didn't photograph M7.

city - a huge construction site! but when they finnish reconstruction of the bridge, M0, airport and metro4, it should be fantastic! bridges? one bridge-fan as me can only enjoy in Budapest! about buildings i don't have to say anything - i should spend at least 4-5 days to visit all the places i would like to as a tourist.

Yes the problem with this M0 back in 1990-1994(sector south M1-M5) was, that the money was only enough for one side of a 3 laned motorway, so now they build the other side.
In one section is the left side and the other section is the right side of the motorway which has to be built. A new "Duna"-bridge actually 2 have to be built too. Near Háros+Ráckeve.

Of course you can expect snow in february but it is not so often.
February is very cold in Hungary, probably the coldest month of the year.

a). Unsuitability of a 2x1 section for a PPP project (as opposed to a EU Cohesion Fund Project).
b). The recession has caused a scaling down of our motorway projects.
c). Some bozo in the NIF misspelled Vasarosnameny for Vaja.
d). Other (please explain!).
As the M43 was tendered in 3 sections, the M0 South also (2 upgrading and 1 new section), the M3 Nyíregyháza-Vaja-Vásárosnamény will be 2 tenders.
I hope M49 will also start as soon as possible...
