Yes, exactly, it might be ubelieveable, but it works. It's probably the fastest road in Budapest.

unless there is an accident. The whole road is blocked and there's no chance of a detour

I gues beause when M0 west gets built, traffic will come from that direction(which is from top right),and the high number of vehicles wont be ablt to pass through the single, narrow, turning lane. It should have been built like this:

i could be wrong, but i think when they decided to do a clover they assumed that a) the hilly section will only be a 2x2 mainroad not a 2x(2+1) expressway or highway and b) that heavy trucks would be prohibited (enforced by cameras) to go from end-to-end between M1 and M3 on the western direction

now i do not agree with that, i think it should be 2x(3+1) all round, i'm just saying what their assumption probably was

because the corner traffic in the BP->M0 north direction is VERY HIGH and it causes serious weaving problem with the conflicting M0 south -> BP corner traffic...

so they should have been built a semidirect ramp for the BP->M0 north corner traffic instead of this 270° indirect ramp...
(like all the other main interchanges of the M0: M1, M7, M5, M4)

at Rawlee comment:

I dont know how much the western sector will increase the M0 north->M3 corner traffic (which conflicts with the above mentioned BP->M0 north corner traffic too), but this conflict would be eliminated with the above suggested semidirect ramp too...

(the problem is not the capacity, the problem is the WEAVING between two conflicting ramps...

in a cloverleaf IC there are 4 270° indirect ramps and there are 4 weaving sections between them...
if you build 1 semidirect ramp instead of 1 of the indirect ramps you eliminate 2 weaving sections
if you build 2 semidirect ramp instead of 2 of the indirect ramps you eliminate ALL the weaving sections...)

Well... it could've been worse!
At least they built the cloverleaf with separated collector-distributor lanes. That greatly increases capacity and safety.

not C/D lanes, but C/D roads... (they are separated roads not extra lanes)

but this is NOT an excuse.

they built a semidirect ramp in the M4xM0 IC for MUCH-MUCH LOWER traffic volume, while in this crowded IC they spared it...

pure idiotism...
