Most people don't give a shit about motorways, they expect them to be built, but don't give credit for it, this motorway won't help the current government at all, and even if it did it wouldn't make a difference. So no it's not about the elections coming, cause they are losing anyway, its about Pécs being cultural capitol next year. But of course everyone goes: oooh yeah the elections, cause its the populist thing to say, and we have plenty of that in this country and this forum...
At least something is going to be ready for next years events in Pécs...

Amazing! Very nice progress on hungarian motorways! This april I've been in Gyor and I have to say that hungarian M1 is in excellent condition too!

At around the same time the Surplacu de Barcău-Borș motorway section will be completed and our countries will finally have a motorway link. I wonder if they will install a customs terminal given the fact that Romania will join Schengen in march 2011.

So far for geography...

The Makó border crossing is 150 kilometers south of the Borș border crossing.

Well, not to nothing, the M35 near Debrecen is like 55 kilometers away. But if the Hungarians want to turn M4 into a motorway, it could take a while before it reaches the Romanian border at Borș.

This road is awesome,I loved driving it. Its about 1,5 lane wide, and winding, with trees right beside the road(its in a protected forest, after all). anything above 40 is suicide, but that 40 feels like if it was 300 on a racing ring.

You, city people.

1,5 meters wide per lane is already much. Similar roads in my region is 2-2,5 meters wide "both lanes". And 40 km/h is like the lowest acceptable speed.

very narrow roads aren't a rarity anywhere in western or eastern europe. Most roads can be widened, the only thing missing is the will to finance those road widenings.

For 100 cars, 4 buses and 2 tractors a day it's wide enough.
