this region is served only by one 2x1 route (hűvösvölgyi út) to the downtown...
8 highly motorised villages is not a "region". region = county or big part of county. commuters from MR10 od M1/M7 would not use M0 west for commuting to downtown. your expectation of many ten thousands AATD is inconvincible. and we don´t talk about costs...

you make a big progress in last years a you have a chance to continue with another important roads like M4 or road to szombathely, don´t make our mistakes.. we dreamed about megalomaniac projects and don´t solved a lot of simple sections...

ok, lets call it an "area" or whatever you want...

so commuters from this "area" (8 villages) would use the M0W for downtown commute...

Quote:

to downtow they woudnt, but to suburbs they would...

(and dont forget the "transit" traffic... not the international one, but the local one... )

Quote:

well, I'm out of arguments and explanations, so let you discuss it with mr. Chris from Zwolle...

(he wants 2x4 lanes instead of my narrow minded 2x2... )

Quote:
...and we don´t talk about costs...
mammamia, this "cost" mania again...

with long-term traffic forecast of 10.000 a simple mainroad would be enough, I wouldnt want an expensive "ghost" motorway...

but with a traffic forecast of 40.000 a motorway is absolutely necessary...

this is simple as that...

(as I said: the only transversal local (!) road in that "area" IS around 20.000!!!
and this is only car traffic, truck traffic is banned, so it goes across the "zsámbék" basin between the MR10 and M1 - and this truck traffic would be lured away by M0W)

and COST doesnt matter, because such a traffic volume justifies the cost...

(if you think the cost of M6 tunnels is OK for 7.000 AADT, why do you think the cost of M0W tunnels is NOT OK for 40.000?? )

and dont forget: its almost impossible to overestimate the traffic volume of a BELTWAY... (ok, Chris can do that... )

its much-much easier to UNDERestimate it... (like you do... )

yeah, we've made progress... in "not-so important" motorways, while important ones (M4, M0W, M10) remained only plans...

(not mentioning the very necessary MR bypasses and road network reconstruction...)

I measure progress not in "km" but in "useful km", and in that unit the progress was little...

and we've not only dreamed about megalomanic projects but we've done some of them... (köröshegy-viaduct, dunaújváros danube-bridge, etc...)

commuters from 8 villages don´t make x10.000 AADT.

no, only if traffic will pay toll. like in croatia. I heard to introducing fees for entry to downtown of big cities i.e. for commuters in a few towns of europe. so pay it or use mass transport.

commuters to suburb....thank you, I almost falled from my chair....

we have 5 km long tunnel branisko for 8.200 AADT in 2005 which costed 250 mil. €...but nobody doubts about importance of elimination the dangerous mountain pass. so I know nothing about costs of M6 tunnels, but I know this tunnels are short & I know nothing about M0 west tunnels. but if you think you make environmentally disputable variant and EU will accept it, you are wrong. our dotty government (they think we are still in 60´s) want to do it but EU and EU banks nailed our ass.

EU funds has + EU bank needs the permission from EU to finalize the credit for our PPP1. and I´m satisfied because they don´t do it. our government LIED about existencie of protected areas, but EU was noticed by greenes.

I made a short trip to Budapest 2 days ago and I had my video camera with me.

Road 43: Nagylak - Szeged

M5: Szeged - Budapest

M43: between M5 - road 5 - road 47

You can also find the Romanian/Hungarian border crossing:

I expect this argument. but this tolls are payed by all users of road types, so this incomes are using for the maintenance of thousands or ten thousands km of roads....or should be.

cyclists on M31 on July 8th. Does that mean it's now opened? Or tomorrow?

Sadly it's not opened, and nobody knows the opening date. Probably in the 2nd half of July.

If it will be opened, somebody will post about it.

Some pictures I found:

it was rebuilt (and widened) around 2000...
