Makó-Nagylak section --> After the Romanian Schengen accession. We do not build a border crossing point unnecessarily. But this Gypsy thing is now, so maybe sometime.

M70 was built without a border crossing point way before the Schengen accession...

Romania's Schengen accession will not be delayed by the Gypsy scandal in France, despite rumours. All the technicalities for the Schengen accession have been fulfiled and even the French ambassador here confirmed that the scandal in France has nothing to do with Schengen. It's been all a Sarkozy political stunt to lift his public rating. It's all now gone. The Commission will do nothing about it and Sarkozy will get over it.

It can be built until Nagylak exit and the border section at a later date... for the poor inhabitants of Apátfalva and Magyarcsanád, at least.

The last section before the border was out of use though (and the rest of M70 used to have extremely low traffic too). It was even built with 6 lanes for the future border crossing... which never came. I think the Slovenian A5 by the Hungarian border was supposed to be opened in the beginning of 2007, but it was probably deliberately postponed... I just don't know why all the way until August 2008, when Schengen came in December 2007. Perhaps there were also another reasons.

This is not completely true. The Hungarian part was completed earlier, but it was a dead end at the border for years before the Slovenian part was created. When Slovenia finally did their part and border crossing became possible there, we were all already in Schengen. That's why there was never a need for a customs office.

Some sections of M43 will be opened in October. Unfortunately this article from the developer agency is written in a way I cannot figure out exactly which sections they are talking about. I thought my Hungarian was very good - but this text beats me.

The 1st section until main road 47, as a main road, and the Makó bypass.

That's exactly what I do not understand. What does "1st section" mean? Is it between M5 and road 47?

If yes, what is the Makó bypass doing exactly? I thought is would connect road old 43 to new M43, therefore makes no sense without M43 there.

Phase I. is the section between Main road 5 (where M43 ended when the first few kms were built in connection with the M5 between Kiskunfélegyháza and Röszke. Before the parliamentary elections a few km long section of M43 from Main road 5 was inaugurated... Campaign motorway... It was barley finished.) and Main road 47. This is the section that's gonna be opened in October (we do not know the exact date though). Phase I. is 6,7 km long.

Phase II. with the Ferenc Móra Tisza bridge is between Main road 47 and local road 4413. (M43 - 47. számú főút – 4413. jelű összekötő út benne a Tisza-híddal (9+700 – 18+400 km szelvények között)) and it's 8,7 kms long.

Based on the status report, the bridge is still not even connected in the middle...

Phase III. with the Makó bypass is between local roads 4413 and 4415. (M43 - 4413. jelű összekötő út – 4415. jelű összekötő út között (18+400 – 34+600 km szelvények között)) This section will be also inaugurated in October as well. It's 16,2 km long.

Yes, the report is a bit difficult to follow mainly when it's mentioning phase II, but otherwise it's completely clear about phase III.
