M44 will not have any connection in Romania.
M35 will not connect directly to RO as far as I know. It goes to Berettyóújfalu and meets M4 there (according to the plans)

if it gets built it will end at Gyula which is about 10 km from the border. and if all that is built they might go on till the border. but if not, so what? a motorway still works if it connects to a normal road, you don't fall off the edge if the world i love it when people say a mway ends in the middle of nowhere, connects to nothing, etc, etc... it connects to other roads, doh.

I was talking about motorways, and motorways only. Of course there are many many road connections with Romania, I`m aware of that. Thank you.

If an expressway is built on one side, soon a connection will follow on the other. It generates traffic.

Thats true. Anyway I was just happy about the first motorway connection with Romania, and I hope there will be at least 2 more connections. And if this is M44, then its good to me (although I think M44 is not the most important connection to build).

I was sure you are aware of other roads, i think we are misunderstanding each other slightly, never mind, i was just saying that if m44 is built, it might not connect to another motorway in Romania instantly, but it is still an advantage for a traveler because he/she can drive more on motorway and less on normal road.
That's why I don't understand when people say its a problem that it doesn't connect to another motorway after the border. It would be better of course, but compared to the previous situation (no motorway at all) it's still improvement.

m44 wont even connect to anything in hungary, its a complete waste of resources: a 2x2 road next to a perfectly good main road with 8k !!!!! traffic on an alignment that is 5 kms longer than necessary purely because of institutionalized corruption at a time when we need hundreds of kms elsewhere

and you find idiots who not only applaud all this but down right demand it

About 2-3 years ago there were plans for an express road linking Arad with Oradea. During that time I heard that RO and HU would connect M44 with a branch of the proposed romanian expressway (near Gyula / Chisineu Cris).

In fact the connection of M44 to Romania is ready: Gyula bypass, 44 Gyula-Békéscsaba 2x2 (110 km/h), Békéscsaba bypass are in operation.

By the way i also think that M44 is wastage, it goes far away from any cities and the main reason, the heavy freight traffic will decrease when M43 opens.

According to this article posted by Nyuszi a couple of hours ago, the construction of M44 will begin this year (most likely Q3) between Tiszakürt and Kondoros (63 km), and by the time that section is built, hopefully the plans and area of the Tiszakürt-M5 and Kondoros-Romanian border sections will be ready, and set to go. In this case M44 in it's entire lengths could be ready by the end of 2015.
Of course, it's questionable how reliable a local county newspaper can be...

When are they going to start the works? I see there are 2 tunnels on the way, so I guess that it will take maybe 2-3 years...

Two viaducts and two tunnels (these last two will be 5,5 km long in total).
The start of the construction is scheduled to start in the second half of 2014... I'm not too happy about that...

What about the motorway's profile? Will it be 2+2 or 3+3?
