Why do you say it is low trafficed? It has more than 8 thousand AADT... And we have some 1+1 roads for 20-25.000...

Basically you're right but even so M1 is better than a lot of German os Austrian motorways.

Road no. 41 (originally 47) was opened in 1951 as a brand new main road with concrete pavement (parallel road of u/c M3 motorway).

Too bad... 14 killed. The crash barriers appear woefully substandard though. Unless the angle of attack is almost 90 degrees, double-sided, twin crash barriers are capable of keeping a full-size truck on its own carriageway. Usually the median barriers bends out, or the truck turns over on top of them. This one managed to made it all the way into the ditch on the opposite side.

These crash barriers are much safer (and more expensive of course):

Added to all real issues it was a very bad luck, too. Having a motorway, far from being overcrowded, in the middle of the night, the truck had good chances to harm no one (except for itself of course). Hitting a car, even a bus, it's a tragedy.

Unfortunately it was a romanian accident

Both truck and van, were registered in Romania.

This kind of shit happens way too often with romanian vehicles here than it should statistically. Maybe a compulsory 24h stay at the border for every vehicle would solve it.

I think they're pretty tired after driving such long distances across substandard roads in Romania, and then enter godlike Hungary where the motorways begin and then they fall asleep.

When I read this in our news, I was almost certain it happened on M70 again, but surprisingly it happened on M43. Last time I drove on M70, an idiot (I won't tell his nationality, although we all know he was a Romanian ) overtook me over a red-coloured full line right before a truck came from the opposite direction (which he saw).

Not all Romanians drive like that, I for sure not (but I'm not 100% Romanian, anyway), but a lot do, I see them too when I drive, a lot of crazy stupid people not thinking the risks they are taking for them and also for others. Many that do crazy manoeuvrs, have power cars with fast acceleration or big SUV cars, and other just have to let them pass so an accident doesn't occur.

You forgot about the vans, pulling a trailer and driving 130km/h.
Same for buses overtaking on M0 southern section with 100km/h. But these normally come not from Romania.

I read a report in the Romanian media that Mako-Nagylak will be delayed. Apparently the source is portfolio.hu. Is that right?
