I was watching bogdymol's video about M7 when i noticed something. This sign with very long city names. Isn't it hard to read for a foreigner?

Balatonszentgyörgy and Balatonkeresztúr are a bit hard to read quickly, but the engschrift doesn't really help.

Hungarian place names are often long, but if you know how to chop them up (Balaton - Szent - György) it's easier to read them. I think that name means something like Holy George of Balaton or something.

There are plenty of places on the lake Balaton with "Balaton" in it's name.

Almost exactly, it rather means Holy George at Balaton because there are lots of Szentgyörgy in Hungary:

B-Szt.György

And what about this

Also remember that we read words like shapes, so you are likely to recognise it if you have read it before, which you have since you're probably going that way.

Perhaps, but when we consider foreign citizens, do you think they would recognize B.Sz.György as Balatonszentgyörgy on a map?

Not sure it'll make things better ! It may confuse tourists looking for a place over the Balaton, with all the Széntgyörgys in H.

Moreover, I agree with SeanT - the B-Szt-György solution would be easier for ... Hungarians ! Not for foreigners with maps !

Maybe simply the font is too small ? (maybe they should put it on two lines like this:
Balaton-
-szentgyörgy

P.S.: Imagine some Welsh villages if you think these Hungarian names are too long

"Szeg" in Szeghalom means curve of a river, not spike (just like in Szeged)

Are there plans for M85 Csorna bypass? IMO Csorna bypass should have been built before Enese bypass. Road 85 looked good inside Enese when we compare it with Csorna.

I think Csorna is the worst place in the country from traffic point of view. The joint section of main roads 85 and 86 is going through the downtown, and on 86 there is a level railroad crossing on a busy line too.

Bécs and Wien on our signs are just like socks, they come in pairs
You will never see only Bécs written on traffic signs.

So the name of Czech footballer Tomas Ujfalusi means ''the fresh peasant ?''
