This thread (Hung. motorways) used to be one of the most vibrat threads of this section, does is it not seem a bit sad that by now it has become virtually dead due to the almost complete lack of activity in this field? It all goes back to political reasons- most of the investments had to come to a standstill so as the rich can keep more of their cut. What is also quite sad about this is the stunning number of morons who still support this policy, even though it just takes away from them, and gives them nothing. What is happening in Hungary?

Nothing will be fixed until the recent/current political problems are fixed -- hopefully at the next election.

So your country won't have any new (major) infrastructure projects before 2014?

Hungary having one of the highest, if not the highest debt/GDP ratio in the region surely does not help either.

Are there any new news about the M43 (Mako-RO border), M44 and M35 motorways? Same question for M2 and M0-widening and M0 (that remaining section with tunnels included).

except that IF there is any hope of EVER getting out of this sh!t by far the only way to do it is to MASSIVELY increase government INVESTMENT even at the cost of additional debt (but only for investment)

the average age of our infrastructure, whether its buildings or roads or whatever is like 30++ years
average

although in terms of roads, we should invest less in highways and more in main roads and a LOT more in tertiary roads (theyve got a good 10 more years in them)

I only know about that M43 was tendered, and if everithing goes well works can commence in June. About the others the only thing what we know is that they are in planning phase...
If there will be any news, they gonna be obviously posted here.

Is the contract length 24 months? So in June 2014 we will drive from Timisoara to Europe just on motorways?

*Romanian A1 Arad-Nadlac should be completed in April 2013

We build motorways for expected AADT of 3-6,000 while several 1+1 roads have 15-25,000...

M3 is an outlier of Hungarian motorway construction. I don't get why it has to be constructed towards Berehove in the first place, routes Uzhhorod or Satu Mare seems like the most traffic-intense roads in that area to me. The construction of M4 seems more viable.

because somebody drew a red line there in 1994. The strange thing for me is that corridor V runs towards Uzhorod, not Berehove according to this map.

I assume that the M3 routing aims to Mukačevo, where E50/M06 begins to cross the Carpathians. Also, the route Mukačevo - Užhorod is in pretty fine condition, contrary to the Čop - Užhorod road. So it makes a lot of sense, especially if M3 is supposed to take over the transit from Ukraine to the Alpe-Adria region (ex-YU, northern Italy and Austria as well)
